Egyptian journalist Ibrahim Issa comments on preventing foreigners from drinking alcohol in Qatar and the rule of Islamic law in that regard.

  • Egyptian journalist Ibrahim Issa said that banning foreigners from drinking alcohol in Qatar is a violation of Islamic law.

And Issa added on the “Cairo and the People” channel that “the fatwas of all sects say that it is the right of the People of the Book to make wine, buy and sell, and drink alcohol in Islamic countries, and it is their right to raise pigs, eat them, slaughter them, buy them, and sell them in Islamic countries, and our master Omar Ibn Al-Khattab used to collect taxes on alcohol.” .

Issa pointed out that Qatar promised to respect the values of those attending the World Cup, and commented on that by saying that when they came to Qatar, "they told them to respect our Arab values."

Issa described what is happening in Qatar as having nothing to do with Sharia, saying that "Islamic Sharia guarantees that every foreigner on the land of Doha can now drink alcohol."
