Why is PM Abiy terrified of the press?

Post by Tiago » 27 Nov 2022, 00:17

Why is PM Abiy terrified of the press? why hasn't he felt the need to hold himself and his government accountable to a free press?
Leaving aside carefully choreographed interviews only to selected friendly channels, for a so-called democratically elected government, giving press briefings and sitting interviews should have been a standard practice.
This clearly shows the PM believes that he is above institutional scrutiny whether from the media or citizens.

The late PM Meles zenawi was far more intelligent and certainly not afraid to face the press.

why hasn't he felt the need to hold himself and his government accountable to a local free press????
Are you suggesting BBC hardtalk was doing favour to TPLF by interviewing Meles zenawi?
I beleive PM Abiy is scared of the public knowledge of his true self.

Yes, indeed. One avoids the media precisely because one has something to hide from the public . Abiy Ahemd has at least two things he is hiding - his mistakes (his history) and/or his true self (his real intentions) !!!!
