UN hosting a conference on access to the internet in Ethiopia is wrong. The gov't has imposed an internet blackout on #Tigray for 2yrs. The intgovforum should hold IGF2022 in a country that respects free speech and doesn't regularly block its citizens from internet access.

How about this, UN meeting to sue TPLF criminals for genocide of Mai-Kadra Amhara in North Gondar. The Tigray people right now needs food and cloth. Look, this is their main harvesting season but there is chronic food shortage not chronic problem of internet chat and gossip .

Don't forget without internet people cannot access their salaries paid into their bank accounts and their savings. Hospitals, universities, government offices etc etc cannot function. Families cannot keep in touch - people use cheaper calls on whatsapp etc etc. Access to the internet is lifeline to 21st century communities.

There is no excuse for POTUS to send US officials to #Ethiopia for #IGF2022. Our participation legitimizes a gov’t whose track record on internet governance includes imposing an internet blackout on #Tigray for 2 years – crushing #freespeech & hiding horrific #humanrights abuses.
