Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Abshir Omar Huruse of Somalia

2022-09-22 22:05

On September 21, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Somali Foreign Minister Abshir Omar Huruse on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Wang Yi said that the traditional friendship between China and Somalia is an important part of China-Africa friendship. Somalia is the first East African country to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, and the two countries have always respected each other and supported each other on issues related to each other's core interests. China has always advocated that all countries, big or small, strong or weak, rich or poor, are equal, and will continue to be a trustworthy friend of Somalia, providing support and assistance to Somalia within its capacity, so as to achieve common development and prosperity.

The Somali president was welcomed like a king but if Somalia is not careful about its diplomacy, It will most definitely fall into the United States of America trap, the USA has been in and out of Somalia for the past four decades, American policymakers can't leave Somalia alone because the USA needs what Somalia has.

Terrorist Designation of Al-Shabaab Leaders

Press Statement

Antony J. Blinken, Secretary of State

October 17, 2022

The United States remains steadfast in our support of East African and African Union-led efforts to counter the threat from al-Shabaab, one of al-Qa’ida’s most dangerous affiliates, which has killed thousands of people, including Americans, in Somalia and across East Africa.

Today, the Department of State is designating five al-Shabaab leaders as Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs) under Executive Order (E.O.) 13224, as amended:
  • Mohamed Mire is a senior al-Shabaab leader responsible for the group’s strategic decision-making and leads the group’s interior wing, overseeing many of the group’s activities in Somalia.
  • Yasir Jiis is an al-Shabaab leader and the commander of the armed wing, the Jabha, which conducts attack operations.
  • Yusuf Ahmed Hajji Nurow, also known as Gees Ade, is the chief of al-Shabaab’s intelligence wing, the Amniyat, which plays a key role in the execution of suicide attacks and assassinations in the region.
  • Mustaf ‘Ato is a senior Amniyat official responsible for coordinating and conducting al-Shabaab attacks in Somalia and Kenya and has helped plan attacks on Kenyan targets and U.S. military compounds in Kenya.
  • Mohamoud Abdi Aden is an al-Shabaab leader and was part of the cell that planned the Dusit2 Hotel attack in 2019.
Additionally, the Department of the Treasury is concurrently designating a network of nine al-Shabaab financial facilitators. As a result of these actions, all property and interests in property of those designated today that are subject to U.S. jurisdiction are blocked, and all U.S. persons are generally prohibited from engaging in any transactions with them.

At this stage of its socio-cultural, I would suggest Somalia more to engage in desert farming/agriculture. Promoting desert agriculture initiative is more equitable share for the pastoralist poor people. In traditional clan based community the dividend from sale of minerals unrealistic and more importantly, environmental pollution and degradation is more likely to result in. Thus, literacy, modernization and evolution of non-clan based is a prerequisite for better equity and environmental friendly sustainable development.

This Galla woman is Somali now and she is loyal but Galla never good stocks.

No matter how pretty never bang Galla.

They will give you kids that carry shoes for Amhara, join in their raw meat processions and complain victims on and off.

Galla never proud of who they are. They will steal the culture of their neighbours. Those near Afar try to look Afar, those with Amhara join the raw meat and shoulder shaking and those near Sidama took all Sidama culture.

Somalia cannot develop its economy by farming and exporting animals to markets in the Middle East, however, Mining is a promising sector, It has the potential to be a driver of poverty reduction and economic growth. It can create direct and indirect employment and income, develop transport and other necessary infrastructures, Unlike its neighbours, Somalia is well endowed with a wide array of mineral wealth, which could become through exports its major source of earning foreign exchanges.

By the way, Somalia is not desert, It's a semi arid savanna flat country.

Somalia Signs Oil Production-Sharing Agreement With US Company

October 21, 2022

Somalia’s government signed an oil-production sharing agreement with US-based Coastline Exploration Ltd., the latest step toward developing the nation’s energy industry.

Coastline, based in Houston, Texas, paid $7 million to the government for seven agreements and will now proceed with an exploration program, the government said in a statement on Friday. The deal was signed after a review of an accord signed in February that was deemed illegal by the Horn of Africa nation’s former government.

The US Coastline Exploration Company paid US$7 million to the Somali government for seven oil blocks, In 2020 Shell and Exxon have also made a US$ 1.7 million payment to Somalia to secure rent on five blocks that were awarded to the companies 30 years ago under the rule of former president Mohamed Siad Barre.

Somalia has more than 200 offshore oil blocks, said to hold over 250 billion barrels of oil.

Well, if Somalia is like what you are describing that is good. But it is often regarded as a predominantly arid and semiarid country with very little percentage of its land arable (as little as 13% cultivable). It has fewer rivers and fewer sources of fresh water compared to her neighbors, which is a major disadvantage/setback to its future growing population. At this stage of African countries where their bargain power is insignificant and their weak governance structure , mineral whether promising or falsely promising are just pure fantasy, if even materialized, they will be curse than blessings, especially in a clan based society like Somalia.

I understand where you are coming from but clan based society is not the same as ethnic groups/ethnicity, We are fighting over everything in Ethiopia, Somalis are one big family, the problem in Somalia is external interference, not the clans, Western imperialism interference over the last 50 years had destabilized Somalia, Speaking of waters, Somalia, like other countries in Africa, has a huge amount of groundwater reserves, don't fall for climate change activists and western media propaganda, they have a hidden agenda.

Video - Oil and natural gas extraction in Somali Sea.

https://coastlineexploration.com/wp-con ... ideo-2.mp4

With a vast rich impressive sandy coastline, Somalia could become the world's largest exporter of oil and natural gas within 2 years, Extracting oil from offshore is easier, swiftly and less expensive compared to onshore oil extraction, Somalia’s future looks radiant.
