Prior to war: Honeymoon with Isaias, marginalizing TPLF & blaming TPLF for every thing that went wrong in the past and that was happening, targeting TPLF officials for arrest and assassination, pretending he is ready for peace but in reality working to subdue or eliminate TPLF leadership
Abiy's real intention 1:
- Subdue or eliminate TPLF and replacing it with Tigray prosperity party
- Subdue the people of Tigray
Observation 2:
Post-start of Tigray war ( until TPLF reached Debre Sina):
- Targeted assassination of TDF/TPLF officials
- Siege of Tigray
- Arrest and economic sanctions on Tigrayans living out of Tigray.
- He declared no peace negotiation with junta!
Abiy's real intention 2:
Same as intention 1 but intentional impoverishment of Tigrayans as a collective punishment added.
Observation 3: After redeployment of TDF to Tigray
-It looks when TDF was told by the USA not to enter Addis Ababa , Abiy may have agreed with the USA to resolve his issue with TPLF through dialogue and negotiation.TPLF /TDF did not have time for a negotiated agreement with Abiy as there was no direct contact and it was under the pressure from the attack of drones and cut of it's supply line by Abiy and Amharas forces.
However, Abiy pretended as the winner of the war and he decided to further siege Tigray to submission until he agreed on humanitrian truce under the pressure of the Western countries. Even after declaring the truce Abiy was dragging his leg to allow food to enter Tigray and resume basic services and that behaviour is still continuing.

Observation 4: Humanitrian truce
Six months have passed after the announcement of the humanitrian truce( which was brokered by USA) but Tigrayans in Tigray have no access to their hard earned money in the bank, no telephone, no internet, no reliable electricity, scarcity of food, no medical service and more than a million people that were uprooted from Western Tigray are suffering( more than 60k of them
are currently living in Sudan). During this time Abiy has reorganized his army, trained new recruits and bought additional militery hard ware and now it looks he is once again ready to re-invade Tigray ( as expressed by General Abebaw some 8 months ago).
Abiy's real intention 4:
- Buy time to reorganize and prepare his army to destroy TDF/ TPLF
-Targeted assassination of TDF/TPLF officials
- Contuinue to siege Tigray to submission/ riot against TPLF
- Impoverishing all Tigrayans through economic sanctions
- Renewing his damaged/tarnished diplomatic image
Observation 5: Peace negotiation
- Now suddenly Abiy's "peace negotiation team" has called for the start of peace discussion for the signature of cease fire so that basic services could be resumed to Tigray but no mention of Western Tigray where more than a million Tigrayans are eagerly waiting to return.

Abiy real intention 5:
- Abiy feels he is now ready to defeat TDF/ TPLF and is provoking TDF for the war to be started
- Targeted assassination of TDF/TPLF officials
- He wants to delay and frustrate the peace negotiation
by making resumption of basic services and evacuation from Western Tigray subject to cease fire agreement, while he tries to deceive the international community by presenting himself that he is ready for urgent discussion to secure cease fire agreement and resumption of basic services to Tigray, but no mention of when Western Tigray shall be ready for the return of the displaced Tigrayans.
- Impoverishing all Tigrayans through economic sanctions
As a summary Abiy's intention to destroy TPLF and subdue and impoverish the Tigray people have been the standing objectives which have to be accomplished by hook or crook
To that effect, Abiy has already committed all kind of sins under the sky, genocide, war crime against Tigray people and he knows very well that the only way to delay or escape from justice is by eliminating TPLF and TDF.
The way forward :
- In the absence of a coexistance arrangement between Abiy and TPLF war is imminent
- Abiy has to be forced to lose the support of Isaias and Amharas forces to agree for meaningful coexistence peace agreement with TPLF
- Hence, TDF as a priority has to hit hard and destroy both Isaias and the Amharas forces while defending itself from the attack of Abiy forces. Once that is accomplished , Abiy will not have any option but to negotiate with TPLF for coexistance agreement .
