What happens when PP allows depositors to access their accounts and start back paying 200, 000 government staff

Post by eden » 10 May 2022, 21:43

Millions and millions of bank accounts originating from branches in an entire region up north are still frozen. Also 200, 000 government staff have been missing pays for long.

Withdrawals are artificially kept at zero for long. PP has been using these funds to keep paying its 11 Millions cadres on the books.

Sooner or later, owners' access to their deposits will be restored. Bank run is expected as the public has lost trust. How will PP meet the demand?

What will be the implication for the national economic and financial health?

This is a good research topic for undergrads.

Aye Agame,

First of all, the banks will not operate until the criminals in Mekele are eliminated. That is what should be foremost in your mind now. The TPLF thugs want to hold a referendum without the consent of the federal government just as they held elections in defiance of the central government. In that case, Tigrayans have no claim to any money in the banks. On the other hand, when the TPLF thugs are eliminated and Tigray comes under the rule of law of the federal government, Tigrayans will be able to access their accounts and bank runs can be easily controlled by limiting the amount to be withdrawn. Only an Agame needs an undergraduate degree to understand this.

Nothing different from the current trend happens. PP will continue printing money and let inflation skyrocket. TPLF will somehow be compensated, most probably by the international community, and ethiopians will suffer from low productivity and unemployment, eating once or twice will be a thing of the past and once every other day will become the norm, intermittent fasting. This way the people sleep longer and Mamo Killo rule over Addis Ababa for a bit longer than anyone can think of amid chaos, his master plan.
