# Bring Back Our Access to Red Sea! Ethiopian sovereign right of Access to the sea under international law

Post by Axumezana » 20 Apr 2022, 07:58

The link below is a well researched thesis document by Abebe T. Kahsay (Major General) on Ethiopia's sovereign right of Access to the Red Sea under international law.

In this document Major General Abebe reveals and concludes that:

- It was lost opportunity to recognize Eritrea with out securing Red Sea Access to Ethiopia

- It was wrong to base the Algiers agreement on out of dated " Null and Void Treaties due to the invasion of Ethiopia by Italy in 1935 " of 1900, 1902 and 1908 instead of United Nations Resolution 390 V ( refer to Chapter 4 of the thesis for details) in which Ethiopia's right to have access to the Red Sea was one of the objectives of the resolution.

- General Abebe clearly concludes Ethiopia still has legitimate and un-breached right to secure Access to Red Sea through the International Law in reference to the United Nations Resolutions 390 V

In addition to the above , invasion of Tigray/Ethiopia in November 2020 has made the Algiers Agreement "Null and Viod" and Ethiopia's negotiation position to claim its access to Red Sea is further strengthened.

Therefore the following action is required by the Ethiopian government immediately:

- Declaration that the Algiers Agreement is "Null and Void' in reference to Eritrea's invasion of Tigray/Ethiopia in November 2020.
- As part of reversing the aggression of Eritrea, occupying the strip of land from the Assab Port to the Historical port of Adulis
- Negotiate with Post- Isaias Eritrea and secure Access to Red Sea.

As a die hard cadre whom are you trying to fool here? The Eritrean independence took place under the sunny tropical sky through the legal and legitimate referendum accompanied by the authoritative signature of the then tplf Ethiopian leader obbo Meles Zenawi, your own role model. The only lasting damage obbo Meles did was that he officially and publicly promised to accept the outcome of whatever the boundary commission decides regarding the boundary piece of land areas, Badime located between Eritrea and Ethiopia in Tigray region.

When the neutral boundary commission adjudicated the Badime piece of land area as being part of Eritrea, obbo Meles Zenawi boldly swallowed his official and public promises and refused to accept the Eritrean rights over Badime. And this corrosive decision became the cancer cell both in the Eritrean body politics and the Ethiopian body politics for a long time, and you are still walking along the same lane by other means as you mean to blame the victims and try to agitate and ignite another warfare as usual. If have really good questions and complaints please direct them to ex-PM Meles Zenawi, and leave us all alone in peace.

Did you really think, I'd just forgive and forget, NO
Your blood should run cold, so cold
You, you two-timing, cheap-lying, wannabe
You're a fool, if you thought that I'd just let this go
I see red, red, oh red
A gun to your head, head, to your head
Now all I see is red, red, red
