MAY GOD SAVE ETHIOPIA

Post by Fiyameta » 15 Feb 2022, 15:49

Can you imagine Semehal Meles Zenawi one day running for office in Ethiopia?

Dictator Ferdinand Marcos' son, Marcos Jr. is running for election to become the new ruler of the Philippines, 35 years after his late father was overthrown by a popular uprising against the most corrupt regime that effectively enslaved the Filipino people by foreign debt. Whenever a country is heavily indebted, millions of its young women are exported to Arab countries as maids to generate foreign exchange from remittances to pay the national debt. An estimated 4 million Filipina maids are working in the Middle East.

Marcos Sr. is largely remembered for his corruption and brutality. He received millions of dollars in US aid that propped up his dictatorial regime from 1965 to 1986 before he was deposed and exiled to the US, where he lived at his luxurious democratic palace in Hawaii until his death in 1989.

His corrupt wife, Imelda Marcos owned 5,000 pairs of shoes that are now displayed at a Shoe Museum in the Philippines. In 1991, she was allowed to return to the Philippines and ran unsuccessfully for office the following year, however she later became a congresswomen. Her son is now using the family's wealth acquired through corruption to run for office in 2022. That's like Semehal Meles Zenawi running for office in Ethiopia. The Neo-colonial powers want him to win the elections because he's the only agame who can go to war against neighboring China in exchange for aid dollars. And it looks like he 's going to win the elections.

Philippines' Marcos wants military presence to defend its waters in South China Sea

MANILA (Reuters) - Philippine presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said he wants his country to have a military presence in the South China Sea, "not to fire upon" vessels but to defend its waters in a long-running dispute with China.

Marcos, son of the late autocrat of the same name, is leading in opinion polls ahead of the May 9 election and appears poised to complete a remarkable rebranding of the family name 36 years after a "people power" uprising ended his father's rule.

In the first televised debate of the campaign, with just four of 10 candidates taking part, Marcos floated the idea of deploying navy ships or coast guard vessels in the disputed strategic waterway to allow fishermen to fish freely.

Marcos, 64, said he will not prioritise a military resolution to the South China Sea dispute and would continue the "correct approach" of pursuing a policy of engagement with China.

"The reason why I spoke about putting military presence there is so the government has a presence there to show China that we are defending what we consider our territorial waters," Marcos said.

China's assertive pursuit of its claims in the South China Sea has drawn repeated complaints from the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei and Taiwan, which all have competing claims. The United States has also repeatedly condemned China's policy.

An international tribunal in 2016 invalidated China's claim to almost all of the resource-rich South China Sea, which is also a major trade route, but Beijing does not recognise the ruling.

Marcos described the Philippines' relationship with longtime defence treaty ally the United States as special and "very important", adding that he would have to "walk a very, very fine line" between China and the United States.

Marcos faced off against three other contenders in the debate. There are 10 candidates in total, but only four other leading contenders, none of whom attended.

His father served his masters very well. He stole $10 billion dollars before fleeing to the US in 1986. When Marcos became president in 1965, the Philippines' total debt was $600 million; by the time he was ousted in 1986, it had ballooned to $26 billion—a 4,300% increase. The country's national debt has since reached $106 billion dollars today!

"Debt is a contemporary form of slavery."
