Sad Day/Year for Oromo Music and Ethiopian Art in General

Post by DefendTheTruth » 19 Jan 2022, 14:39

I read today on Meta (formerly Facebook) about the passing away of Nuho Gobena, a talented Afan Oromo vocalist and gitarist. I was very much touched, he was one of my favorite musician in Afan Oromo, with many refreshingly attractive musics that I used to listen to and enjoyed myself.

RIP Nuho!

Then just this evening I also heard on Youtube that the all perhaps best Afan Oromo singer (he also sings in other languages in the country) Ali Birra is also seriously ill and in hospital receiving treatment. I saw a scene of PM Abiy Ahmed and President Shimales Abdissa visiting him on a hospital bed. Hope he will recover soon and we will have a chance to see him again on a stage.

I wish Ali Birra a speedy recovery.

It is devastating to learn two great musicians are missing from stage on a single day.

Nuho's some of greatest musics.

The following is a de-facto popular anthem within the Oromo community, across all spectrum of lives.

His musics are timeless, like the following albem.

To love his musics you don't have to understand the lyrics, simply immersive
