Have you seen a war where both belligerents lose, case of the Tigray war

Post by Dejach Aklilu » 15 Jan 2022, 18:58

Outside observers called the Ethio-Eri war of 97' over badme two bald men fighting over a comb. The Tigray war of 2020 may have eclipsed that episode of nonsensical stupidity in that at the end of the Tigray war of 20', neither of the bald men actually ended up with the comb, rather the comb ended up being completely destroyed in the scuffle. But as the cheap vanity of both belligerents dictat, both TPLF and federal gov't declared victory even though neither of them achieved their objectives, does that ring a bell? ..same story as Ethiopia and Eritrea declaring victory after the 97' war.

Summary of the stupidest war in history: The Tigray war 2020

Initiation 2020 - Armed conflict broke out when Tigray regional government attacked federal forces with the objective of toppling the federal government and safeguarding the confederal constitution. The federal government retaliated by invading tigray with the objective of wiping out tigray regional government and replacing them with sympathisers and arrest of kill Tplf operatives.

Ending 2022 - Tigray regional government fails to achieve objective of toppling the federal government and ends up losing more than a quarter of territory and access to sudan. The federal government fails to wipe out Tigray regional government, ending up releasing arrested Tplf operatives and gives up on controlling Tigray for good.

Whether it was 97 or 2020, the cast are different but it's the same film of two baldies fighting over a comb.
