What Ethiopia could learn from Mandela?

The apartheid system in South Africa was a policy of segregation or discrimination on grounds of race. In Ethiopia we have a sort of an "apartheid system" based on ethnicity, religious and social status . As some archaic unitary Ethiopia promoters try to tell us, It did not start with TPLF/EPRDF but it has been in existence perhaps from the time Ethiopia or it's predecessors were in existence. Mandela gave his life to dismantle the apartheid system and tried both violent( at early stage of his struggle) but later chose to end it through peaceful manner. The following were the main lessons from Mandela life:
- Changed the struggle strategy from violent to peaceful one
- True/genuine forgiveness of his enimies that arrested him for 27 years and killed and abused black Africans for generations
- Becoming the 1st democratically leader and limited his stay in power for one term only
- Reconciled the country through the Truth and Reconciliation commission
Abiy and other political figures must lead the country toward true/genuine forgiveness and reconcilation instead of violence and conflict. They should also sacrifice their selfish political ambitions and political game toward transitioning the country to a world class democracy. The existing constitution has to be also revised or replaced with a new constitution through participative dialogue and discussion among the Ethiopian people and various stakeholders. Ethiopias main enemy is corrupted life style ( corrupted thinking and corrupted practices) and the government and the various religious and civic organizations should work together to change the culture of corrupted life style to transparent, selfless and clean life style.
