America calls on Israel to review normalization with Sudan in light of recent developments

Today, Monday, the US State Department called on Israel to review the issue of normalizing relations with Sudan in light of the recent developments.

US State Department spokesman Ned Price said during a press conference that "Israel should review the issue of normalization with Sudan within the coming hours and days if the situation continues as it is."

The US State Department announced, earlier today, the suspension of $ 700 million in aid to Sudan, against the background of declaring a state of emergency throughout the country and dissolving the Transitional Sovereign Council and the government.

And it warned that "any change in the transitional government by force will risk the assistance we provide to Sudan and bilateral relations" and reiterated the call for the release of the Sudanese Prime Minister, Abdullah Hamdok, and other detained officials.

And earlier today, Monday, the head of the Sudanese Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, announced a state of emergency throughout the country and the dissolution of the Transitional Sovereign Council and the government, pledging to form a government of competencies to manage the transitional phase in the country.

In a speech to the people, Al-Burhan affirmed adherence to the constitutional document, until the formation of a government of national competencies that takes into account the equitable representation of the people of Sudan before the end of November 2023, pledging to involve the youth in a revolutionary parliament that will monitor its performance.

Prior to that, Abdullah Hamdok's office announced, in a statement, the arrest of the latter and his wife by a military force that took them to an unknown destination. The statement said: “Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk and his wife at dawn today from their residence in Khartoum, and they were taken to an unknown destination by a military force. The security forces simultaneously arrested a number of members of the Sovereignty Council, ministers and political leaders.

Hamdok’s office called on the Sudanese people to come out and demonstrate and “use all known peaceful means, which they have experienced and experienced, to restore their revolution from any kidnapper.”

In a related context, the Central Sudanese Doctors Committee announced the killing of two protesters by the Sudanese army's bullets and the wounding of dozens, during clashes between protesters rejecting the movements of the military establishment and regular forces.

A source in the Transitional Sovereign Council said in statements to Sputnik agency, that "the authorities arrested about 15 ministerial and political officials, most notably Minister of Cabinet Affairs Khaled Omar, Minister of Industry Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, Minister of Information and Faisal Saleh, media and political advisor to the Sudanese Prime Minister, politician Yasser Arman, and a member Sovereignty Council Mohamed El Faki.
