Post by sarcasm » 25 Sep 2021, 08:37

Fixing 9 houses is within the Kebele's Chairman's spending limit. Addis Ababa mayor's planning and executing level is thousands of new apartments per year. But now it has fallen to a Kebele's level. Refurbishing 9 houses has become top news in a city of 5/6 million that the mayor has to spend all morning conducting ribbon cutting ceremony outside each fixed house!

There is no problem for the Mayor to do real work and engage at the grassroots level of Kebele residents. That is what real civil service mean and what successful politician do. While there are other things that a Mayor could be blamed for thugs are blaming her for doing some thing great shows how desperate TPLF are for looking for reason.

Given the situation of the country, it is also irrelevant to talk of how poor or good the economy is performing. It is too obvious when there is fighting there are economic costs and loss of human lives. The reason for this is TPLF and its foreign enablers. The other important thing many over looks is that a necessary war is also a very good long term investment - it is potentially a capital investment - although war is tragic. Removing the minority TPLF from the scene of Ethiopia is trillions of trillions dollar worth investment - this is a long term investment with a good return on investment for generations. Some TPLF troll thugs were talking about S&P credit ranking a sort of "I gotcha" while Ethiopia like many African country is a none-monetized economy in full yet and never been graded before. Ranking is a headache of the Western world the life of their economy entirely depended on capital market not a serious problem for the framing economy in Gojam, Shewa or pastoralist economy of Afar, Somalia. A crash in the stock market crash more the economy of the developed world than the crop field of Shewa or Gojam.

Everything happened under PM Abiy's watch. He is exercising his full power to starve, ethnic cleanse commit genocide against his own people (directly or indirectly). Absolving the PM will not help one to understand the carnage nor will it help one to find solutions. It will only embolden him to cause more carnage. Accountability begins at the top. Abiy is not sophisticated enough to lead a very complex country.

War is an investment?! Wow!

TPLF handed over power peacefully in 2018. Abiy had full control of the military, security, economy, parliament etc etc. There was no need for a war to get what is already in your hands.

Let's be honest,
1) About the economy. When TPLF left power, the economy was not in a good shape. The economy and its government system was on foreclosure and liquidation. TPLF had been embellishing the narrative to look good, while the reality was different: cost of living high, depend on foreign aid, intense corruption, inefficient market system, extreme income and wealth disparity, etc. Thus, Abiy Ahmed government received a bankrupt economy and irreparable political system. This fraud system installed by TPLF is still lurking opportunists from TPLF cloned OLF-PP elements now taking their turn replacing TPLF. It is better talking about the system than focusing on a person. Context is very important. I am saying this not shield and protect Abiy from criticism. The criticism has to be sincere and be context based.

2) About the war. TPLF entered into war on its own volition whereas the war was involuntary on the part of Abiy Ahmed. He had shown a massive kind heart to TPLF. He was criticized by millions why he refrained taking military action against belligerent TPLF for at least 2 years. TPLF rejected every effort of mediation, because it had 80 % of the national defense asset and national wealth through its EFFORT company. Technically, the national economy and military asset was under the firm control of TPLF. So, the intent of TPLF was to leave an economically and politically paralyzed PM behind in Addis Ababa. You call that over confidence. War is neither an adventure nor a wise choice, but when it befalls upon it is a risk worth fighting because, it could also be an avenue to recover the freedom, dignity and future that one lost previously to bully. TPLF is a bully, let's be honest.

Back then, Ethiopia was considered one of the 10 fastest growing countries from the glob and eying to join WTO. The debate was whether the economic growth was either double digit or single digit. Now the growth is below zero and the credit rating is placed in the junk. #Prosperity
