I am genuinely impressed by the artwork of shewan youths on the statue of Zara Yacob (Ge'ez: ዘርዐ ያዕቆብ born in 1399 – and died on 26 August 1468) . Who lived in the city of Barara on today’s entoto Mountian but left for Tegalut where he founded Debre Berhan.
I also remember Yabello aka Eden Gadgalo making fun of Ethiopias statues in Addis saying it was all built by Europeans and that Ethiopians are incapable of making statues of themselves. The youths of Shewa completly schooled edu!
There are also some memories of the Ethiopian emperor Zara Yacob visiting the beautiful lake wonchi in western Shawa (the video was shared by Defend The Truth) on OBN where locals impressively remember the king of Ethiopia from 600 years ago visiting them.
