Former Algeria's President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who was best known for brokering the Algiers's Agreement that both the TPLF and the nation of Eritrea had signed unconditionally on December 12, 2000, has died at the age of 84.

For over 20 years, Eritrea called on the international community to enforce the Algiers Agreements, however its repeated calls had fallen on deaf ears year after year, as the TPLF, with the help of their Western masters, continued to illegally occupy the territories awarded to Eritrea by violating the agreements which the agame had signed by dipping their baboon thumbs in ink for lack of education.

We Eritreans are glad to know that President Abdelaziz Bouteflika had lived long enough to see the ultimate demise of the TPLF and the return of the territories back to its rightful owners-- the Eritrean people.

Abdelaziz Bouteflika: Former Algerian president dies aged 84

The former president of Algeria, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, has died after a long illness at the age of 84.

Bouteflika led the country for almost two decades, stepping down in 2019 after his bid for a fifth term in office led to massive street protests.

He played a key role in Algeria's war of independence in the 1950s and 60s.

Then in 1999, as Algeria emerged from a brutal civil war that killed almost 200,000 people, he became president at the urging of the military.

Bouteflika had rarely been seen in public since a stroke in 2013, which affected his speech and mobility.
