WATER & THE ETHIOPIAN NATIONAL AGENDA

Post by Horus » 03 Jun 2021, 02:18

I am Horus. How many of possess a clearly defined nation agenda? What is the Ethiopian purpose? What is the Ethiopian mission? Ethiopia as nation, a country, a state, a community has a set of national objectives and national goals it pursues as reason for its existence. They are:

one: Ethiopia want to build a united, stable, & strong country, state, & government.

Two: Ethiopia wants to be a democratic, free & just society.

Three: Ethiopians want to become a prosperous, educated & healthy thriving people.

Four: Ethiopia wants to grow a creative, ecological & spiritual culture.

It is true that these four pillars of the Ethiopian purpose have their own specific drivers and factors of development.

In my view WATER is the most critical and decisive driver of creativity, growth, change & sustainability. With WATER, we create a Green Ethiopia, an ecologically flourishing, healthy and sustainable and wholistic environment. With WATER, we build a modern cutting edge agricultural economy. With WATER, we produce enormous amount of electric power to light our nation, fuel our industrialization and export. With WATER, we can create miracles. WATER is the OIL of the Future.

Sure we can list other critical drivers of our civilization such as artificial intelligence, information and blockchain, human genome and microbiome, space and nuclear technologies. But none comes close to the miracle of WATER.

Horus,

I checked all the four boxes with RIGHT! Fresh water is #1 essential - despite all the other noisy clutters. Under no circumstance, Ethiopia has to sign away her right on Abay River - even if it means the GRED is endangered. Issuing a blank check is more consequential than saving just a single dam. Water is the hardware of everything for the future Ethiopia to sustainable food security and national sovereignty. The so-called developed country uses attractive rhetoric of democracy etc., but the bottom-line is natural wealth. Those so-called activists spinning tribal politics don't see the big picture. They are compromising the basic necessities of the future generation by being sold out to Egypt, Sudan and Western powers , whose dream is to blow the Ethiopian dam. It is better for the country to start with the most achievable /low hanging fruits/ and that is building large to medium size irrigation dams and completing hydroelectric power dams. And the most equally competing and achievable goal should be eliminating ethnic federation( this is a 3rd grade level designed political cart which can't take the country anywhere) and replace it with a federal system built on conventional standards. When conventional system of governance is rolled out into the political field, all those pests of ethnic federation wither away and it will be a free way ride for the country to pursue her aspiration of economic growth - her adversaries can't even tailgate her let alone catching to snare her progress.

Abere,

Yes, indeed. As you well know there is so much noise, so much static, so much confusion in our social and political air; but underneath there is now emerging a perceptible national vision and consciousness. There are millions who share your thought. It is not only the spirit of Ethiopianism that is flourishing; we are in the processing of defining a national destiny, a national purpose. As wisdom has it, the people perish for lack of vision. In time (with our great effort), all of the currently disruptive elements of our society - from tribalism to poverty, from from dependence to ignorance - will be cut to manageable magnitude. This is why we must be able to chew gum and walk at the same time. Yes, WATER is gold.
