Blaming the current regime for lack of foreign diplomacy is preposterous.

Blaming the current regime for lack of foreign diplomacy is preposterous.

What was Ethiopia’s diplomatic relation prior to this government (prior 3 years ago?)
What type of diplomats was hatched from AAU and posted as diplomats in different countries around the world for the last 3 decades?
Was there really any viable diplomat that negotiates for the interests of the country?

This government inherited next to nothing diplomatic staffs. Ministry of foreign affairs was packed by weyanie cadres and useless spies –spies who were busy going after (spying on the day to day lives of their own citizens and diaspora Ethiopians) and harassing them. Weyane’s diplomats were “chat ” merchants, drug dealers and individuals involved in all kind of illegal activities using Ethiopian airlines as their private jet- don’t we knew this/was this a secret?

Why on earth are some people blaming Ministry of foreign affair for all the mess by weyanie?

For weyanies they didn’t want a diplomats because their foreign policy was based on “servitude (ምን ልታዘዝ) diplomacy”, they even have a British diplomat working in Ethiopian embassy in London and in Australian, Australian citizen running Ethiopian consulate e.t.c. They do whatever they were told to do as long as, in return, they were allowed to stash their looted money from Ethiopia in foreign bank accounts.
Well, I do believe MOFA can and should improve but I wouldn’t blame the current Minister for the predecessor regime’s mess.

To be honest, woyane diplomacy was not always "servitude (ምን ልታዘዝ) diplomacy". I can give you concrete examples that this was not a case. The US and western institutions many times demanded that the woyanes do land reform and privatize land so that commercial and private farming can flourish in Ethiopia. The woyanes said over our dead bodies. The US and the west were many times urging them to open up the telecom and banking sectors for foreign investors but the woyanes always refused. In fact the current government is the one that is partially fulfilling their long term demands.

Unlike our clueless at foreign ministry though, the woyanes knew how to "make friends" aka bribe  all the influential people like Susan Rise and many in the media. Sudan officials and generals were buddies with the woyanes. That is where the current government is completely clueless and is failing. Instead of working 24/7 to try and "make friends", the clueless government is sitting idle and blaming the likes of Susan Rise & co. What a fail!

temari, you did not refute the y3… argument at all. Your response is TPLF’s cadre like. The TPLF guys , we know, have not wanted land to be privatized just because they wanted to completely put the populace under their control. Because the government controlled the land, they have created peasant politicians who do as they wish as long as they allied themselves with the government. The Ethiopian telecom is another same story. It is not because they thought Ethiopia would be better off with government monopoly, it is just because the TPLF guys have not wanted to let loose the TPLF total control. The more they control the economy sector, they believed, the more they create a populace they guide with a leash as they wish.
No matter how hard some tries to paint it differently tribal government never does have the nation interest. It is contraction in terms. TPLF was a tribal government.
