This particular incident I am talking about took place in 1974. Let me correct myself, it was Eid al Adha/Arafa not Eid alFitir.... young Muslim Eritreans strangled by wire on neck thrown in Asmara comecitato neighborhood nearby Asmara Cathedral to be precise. After DeQi Arawit, AbeAbraham, Zemelso and Cigar's paps voted in the referendum and won the majority vote for the reunification of Eritrea with her motherland Ethiopia, Eritrean Tigraway Christians were favored by emperor Haile Selasie, and his administration recruited thousands of Tigraway Eritrean Christians and provided them with special education, political power and livelihood privileges whereas the Muslims were segregated like the rest of Ethiopian Muslims who used to be regarded as second class citizens by the regime at the time.

The Arabic language which was adopted as the second official language of Eritrea was discarded and blatant religious discrimination of the state against Eri Muslims had slowly begun to manifest itself.
