Re: Linking Ethiopia to Berbera Port - DP World and Ethiopia sign MoU to develop the road linking Ethiopia to Berbera Po
I'm sure PM Abiy anticipates that, when push comes to shove, the neo-colonial forces that treat Djibouti as their colony, could potentially create a manufactured border crisis pitting Djibouti against Ethiopia to deprive the latter access to the sea. But by signing this MoU with his staunch ally Somalia, PM Abiy is making his geopolitical prowess known by seeking alternate sea access to circumvent the hurdles thrown in front of him. He's a fantastic Chess player! And we Eritreans are happy to see a tenacious leader next door.

Ethiopia should use every port available from Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somaliland and Kenya. Relying only on one port is not acceptable in the long term and is very risky. Every additional port outlet that help diversify port access should be welcomed.

I do think the primary beneficiaries of Ethiopia's access to Berbera port are the long-subjugated Somali people, whose region sits on a vast oil and natural gas deposit that, when tapped, could quickly transform the living standard of the people beyond limits. We are talking about the emergence of Dubai-like wealthy cities on the eastern part of Ethiopia! This in turn will help Ethiopia wane its dependence on imported oil to lubricate its economy. Ah, self reliance is so liberating! Go-Abiy-Go!

Mrs Fiyameta Isaias Afwerki
You must be mistaking Somalis who have never been subjugated and never yielded obedience to anyone for Tigrinya people who have been subjugated and abused by centuries of Amhara brutal rule, Somalis were, are and will always be the masters of their own destiny, so please think before you write, this is a public forum.
I think you are just mad about Emiratis investing in Berbera port and not in Tigrinya land.

It's rather you who needs to lubricate your retarded mindset and realise that such "Dubai-like wealthy cities" in your daydream scenario could come back to their mother country at any time!
Sure, you can daydream to entertain your hopeless soul!
Just a thought!
