This is the kind of discussion where gaging the signal to noise ratio in the long debate and friction, to put it mildly, for democracy in Ethiopia becomes simpler.
One signal from Meaza Ghidey is the demand for self-administration in Ethiopia. Does any of the Ethiopian participants in the panel and Ethiopians at large demand anything more than this in order to settle the debate for democracy in Ethiopia?
If this can be a unifying demand, what were the strengths and weaknesses of ንጉሰ ነገስት ስርዓት? How much of the demand made by her here qualitatively differ from what was in place then? An objective study can make a solid point about it as well as what went wrong from then to now.
I don't know if Dr. Henock Gebisa had expected to be asked sharply if what he stated is what he wants. Then again, I also can't help asking if the ideas "within the country's cultural framework" and "self-determination up to including succession" from the same country co-exist in the same faculty.
