With all due respect, the question which should be asked is not which Eritreans he is referring to but rather what his business is to talk about Eritrean affairs? It just goes to show you that he is one of the many dinosaurs who doesn't accept Eritrean independence.

What Dina Mufti has said today is obviously unforgivable. But, we should take it easy in any case, so that his dream doesn't come true. He is probably one of many who is in line for assignments from illwishers of the west. That must be the reason why he is trying to create mistrust and insecurity between the people of two countries.

He is a very seasoned professional diplomat and one the most senior diplomats in Foreign Office with over 35 years experience. When I heard the interview first, I thought he's laying the groundwork for such discussions.

Indeed. That was reported by Martin Plaut already. Mufti is dropping it to make people get used to what is going to happen. Issu's mission in life is to reunite Eritrea with Ethiopia. That was the reason he was recruited by Asrate Kassa and the emperor's intelligence services.

Regardless, let's not lose sight that most of the officials running the country are woyane byproducts who have the tendency and the culture to run amok whenever they grab the microphone.......To get a perspective how Agames gutted Ethiopia's institutions, it would be enough to remember how Ethiopia was represented at one point by the highest calibers- the likes of Goshu Wolde and Tesfaye Dinka - and compare that to today's diplomats who worked under Seyoum Mesfin's 'Foreign Minstry.'

Having said that let's not blow this kind of stupidity out of proportion as we should not take our eyes off the Agames and offer them a respite from their misery!

A person who makes a living being a spokesperson for a government on a variety of issues every day is bound to make a mistake. Given the close relationship with the Eritrean people and its leadership, an attempt to express that closeness may not hit the right notes, but truly he meant not to disparage the Eritrean struggle. I expect through appropriate channels and officially a correction will be made. The unwise Federation marriage between the two countries ended ignobly bringing forth a bright future for their posterity, that chapter is closed. Let us be wise not to be disturbed by an occasional slip of the tongue that comes from either side of the fences --which means absolutely nothing. Words to the wise that the relationship between the two countries need to have a structure hankered on the rule of international relationship those rules can be friendly and accommodative but nevertheless they are rules both countries need to abide by. Given our past experience, this feely-feely relationship invariably leads to disaster. So let us focus on that so that good neighborliness flourishes. what transpired in the recent past when the internal enemy of Ethiopia decided to do irreparable damage, the Eritrean people stood with Ethiopia people that has sealed the goodwill toward each other for the generation to come.
