ISMAILIA, Egypt: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi warned Tuesday that Ethiopia's enormous dam, upstream on the Nile, risked causing "unimaginable instability".

"Nobody will be permitted to take a single drop of Egypt's water, otherwise the region will fall into unimaginable instability," our reaction in the event that we are affected" by a reduction in Egypt's own water supply "will affect the stability of the entire region, Sisi said in response to a question at a press conference about the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.

At first, I thought his diatribe was aimed for public consumption while 99.99% of the egyptians are anti the hdase dam.

However, now the matter seems to be gravely serious and very dangerous. In his today's warning, he drew a redline to abi not to dare trespass it or else.

Many independent arab medias which detest dictator al sissi did have a field day today, they put his warning to abi on their headlines.

Things don't look good, the UN, EU, USA (forget the africa union baboons) should intervene immediately to prevent a potential catastrophic mini war which may unfold prior to July (the second filling of the dam).

Dear kerenite,
Abiy the liar should reap what he's been sawing. Collaborating with the worst dictator in Africa to create Greater Ethiopia at the expense of the oppressed people of Eritrea. The two are about to nullify our hard word independence. Sisi could blow the lid off these tyrants and I wouldn't worry about that.

All Egypt can do, apart from seeking a peaceful win-win solution, is to bomb the dam by deploying its F16s and air refuelling them, or using its ballistic arsenal. But for Egypt to turn to such a course of action before the eyes of the world, it requires:

1. Legitimacy.

2. Assurance for itself that such an action will stop Ethiopia from materializing the dam project.

Egypt has neither of these two to date. Therefore, Ethiopia should not pay attention to the cheap threats of Sisi.

No worries. Egypt just needs to bolster Sudanese border claims and its defense forces. Abiy is already in such a tight rope he just needs a little nudge to crumble and collapse.

You seem to be confusing Ethiopia with PM Abiy! This is not about PM Abiy but Ethiopia, as this matter happens to predate his arrival in power and that he hasn't done anything wrong in this regard that would warrant condemning him!

I wonder if you're not also accusing him of the Arctic heating up faster than anywhere else and sea ice is shrinking 14 percent per decade, and in result poor polar bears getting starved!

Abiy has acquired a reputation for bold-faced lying. He recently received recognition for that in the world forum when he admitted that Eritrean troops are inside Ethiopia after months of lying. Egypt has already known that and has no problem discrediting the discredited idiot, His Excellency PM Abiy. So, if Egypt says he's gonna suffer the consequences of his action, that means he will. You see, Egypt has a reputation for making good on its promises. The EU knows it, the US knows it, the UN knows it, so does the rest of the world. So, if Egypt says Abiy and his junta will pay, they will pay.

Egypt's empty bravado should not impress anyone! If it has some balls to show, it's welcome to bring them on!

If Egypt were convinced to win this case by force, it wouldn't have relented in 2012 and demonstrated a degree of flexibility by agreeing to charge an international panel of experts with studying the potential impact of the GERD, accepting the inevitability of the dam going operational. Instead it would have opposed the very idea of the GERD, arguing that the Anglo-Egyptian Treaty granted it the right to veto any such project - and would have bombed the dam by now.

Egypt is determined to create turmoil in the country because they know Ethiopia is militarily weak and politically unstable country and can be wiped out easily.

In 2012 , they were not dealing with this gullible puppy. They were also going through their own problems. Sisi has established that he has a steady hand and has cultivated relationships with major world leaders. The puppy Abiy is getting ready to be schooled by the pro. Even Issu, the diabic septogenerian, will not stand up against Egypt, let alone Abiy the gullible puppy "emporor".
Look, this young Ethiopian will tell you where the puppy emperor is at.

Ethiopia has already scooped 4 million cubic water last year; this coming winter we going to Succop again 18 million cubics -- would you be kind enough to tell him that that is 22 million cubics more water than a drop of water.

All options open’: Egypt warns Ethiopia amid dam deadlock

By SAMY MAGDYtoday

CAIRO (AP) — Egypt’s president warned Ethiopia on Wednesday that his government will not tolerate any moves by Addis Ababa that would reduce Egypt’s share of water from the Nile River.

The warning — the second one in just over a week — came after the latest round of talks between Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan over sharing the water failed to make progress. The three nations are deadlocked in a yearslong dispute over a giant dam Addis Ababa is building on the Nile River’s main tributary.

Egypt and Sudan argue that Ethiopia’s plan to add 13.5 billion cubic meters of water in 2021 to the dam’s reservoir on the Blue Nile is a threat to them.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi said in televised comments that “all options are open” should Egypt’s share be “touched.” He urged Addis Ababa to cooperate with Cairo and Khartoum to avert sliding into conflict.

“To build with each other is much better than conflict,” he said.

Last week, el-Sissi warned of regional “instability that no one can imagine” without a legally binding agreement on operating the dam, based on international law and norms governing cross-border rivers.

Sudan’s Irrigation Minister Yasser Abbas echoed el-Sissi’s remarks, telling reporters in Khartoum on Wednesday that Sudan and Egypt may take the dispute to the U.N. Security Council and urging the global community to step in before it’s “too late.”

There was no immediate comment from Ethiopia.

There are concerns the dispute, which centers on how quickly Ethiopia may be allowed to fill and replenish the reservoir and how much water it would release downstream if a multi-year drought occurs, could escalate into a military conflict.

Egypt, which relies on the Nile River for more than 90% of its water supplies, fears a devastating impact if the dam is operated without taking its needs into account. Ethiopia says the $5 billion dam is essential, arguing that the vast majority of its population lacks electricity.

Sudan wants Ethiopia to coordinate and share data on the dam’s operation to avoid flooding and protect its own power-generating dams on the Blue Nile, the main tributary of the Nile River. The Blue Nile meets with the White Nile in Khartoum. From there, the Nile winds northward through Egypt and flows into the Mediterranean Sea.

Abbas, the Sudanese minister, said Ethiopia’s dam threatens at least 20 million Sudanese, roughly half the country’s population.

“That’s not an exaggeration,” he said.

Sudan demands expulsion of Ethiopians from Abyei UN peacekeeping forces

Updated 07 April 2021

Sudan will be reviewing its relations and cooperation agreements with Ethiopia

DUBAI: Sudan called on the United Nations to replace Ethiopian peacekeepers in Abyei with another force from different countries, Foreign Minister Mariam al-Mahdi said on Tuesday.

Mahdi made the statement during an interview with the pan-Arab Al-Hadath news channel following the latest round of talks with Ethiopia over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) in Kinshasa that ended with no progress.

The minister claimed that Ethiopia showed “unacceptable intransigence” in the talks over the GERD. Its decision to proceed with the second phase of the filling of its reservoir is contrary to international law, she said.

“It is not conceivable to accept Ethiopian forces deployed in the strategic depth of Sudan while the Ethiopian troops are massing on the eastern borders of Sudan,” Mahdi said.

Sudan will be reviewing its relations and cooperation agreements with Ethiopia, the minister said, but stressed that Ethiopian immigrants and refugees would not be affected.

The Abyei region - on the border between South Sudan and the Sudan - was accorded “special administrative status” by the 2004 Protocol on the Resolution of the Abyei Conflict that ended the Second Sudanese Civil War. Under the terms of the Abyei Protocol, the Abyei area was considered, on an interim basis, to be simultaneously part of both the Republic of South Sudan and the Republic of the Sudan.

The UN Security Council responded to the urgent situation in Abyei by establishing the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) in 2011 due to violence, escalating tensions and population displacement.

The operation was tasked with monitoring the flashpoint border between north and south and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid, and is authorized to use force in protecting civilians and humanitarian workers.

UNISFA’s establishment came after the Government of Sudan and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) reached an agreement in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to demilitarize Abyei and let Ethiopian troops to monitor the area.

In November last year, the Security Council renewed the UNISFA mandate for six months until 15 May 2021. The Security Council is expected to discuss the Sudanese request during a meeting that will take place on 26 April.

It's easy for you to say living in the affluent and peacefull West. Let the poor peasants children suffer the scourge of war. Abiy is already in such a tight rope he will have a nervous breakdown while dragging Ethiopia down the drain with his mentor Issu.
