The "news" that claimed Eritreans massacred 750 to 800 persons in Aksum, Etiyopiya, was "absolutely false"



In the Tigrinya language he said, [ ንሓበሬታ ብጭቡጥ ንምጽራይ] ዘለዎ ብድሆታት ኣብ ግምት አእቲና ማለት ዩ፡
ስለዚ ብዝተፈላለዩ መገድታት ኣብ መሬት ዘሎ ነገራት ስለ እንከታተል፡
እዚ 770፡ 780: 750 ሰባት ሞይቶም ዝብሃል ዓይነት ወረታት ምስ መጸ መቸስ ካብቶም ....
በቲ ሓደ ወገን እቶም ጸላእትና ከምኡ እንተገበሩ ዘይገርመኒ፡ በቲ ካልእ ወገን ኽዓ ተጌሩ ድዩ'ኸ፧
ኣበይ'ዩኸ ተጌሩ፧
መዓስ፧
እቶም ወገናትናኸ እንታይ ዓይነት ሰባት'ዮም፧
ኣብ ከመይ ዓይነት ኣጋጣሚ እዩ ከምኡ ዓይነት ረጽሚ ኣጋጢሙ፧
ዝብል ነገር [ሕቶታት] ከጻሪ'የ ፈቲነ።
ኣብ መወዳእታ ዝረኸብኩዎ ነገር፡ "እዚ 780 ሰባት ኣብ ኣኽሱም ቀቲሎም" ዝብሃል [ወረ] ፍጹም ሓሶት'ዩ።
ከምኡ ዝብሃል ነገር ኣብ ኣኽሱም ዝተፈጸመ የለን። ፒሪኦድ። ....

A rough translation into English follows:
[The aim was to clarify matters] ...I mean considering the challenges that do exist,
so, because we follow up matters on the ground in various ways,
and after types of news came up saying that 770, [or] 780, [or] 750 persons were killed/massacred, from...
on one side, it would not surprise me if our enemies did that,
and on the other side, I tried to clarify things [questions such as]:
was it done?
where was it done?
when?
what type of persons were our [massacred] folks?
in what kind of situation did such type of violence occur?
Finally, the thing I found is [that the news stating] "they killed/massacred 780 persons in Aksum" was absolutely false.
No such a thing [or massacre] was ever carried out. Period.
