The other false pride is trying to have one language only as a means of communication. Amharic is working language in Ethiopia. which means the mass media transmit every thing in Amharic: plays, films, music , news and other items 7 days a week and through out the year. There is a false narrative to Amharic language. Geez and Tigrigna are much older than amharic.

Had Haile Selassie used English as a working language, we would have by now developed our economy on the level of Europe. By using Amharic, our children do not benefit. Ethiopian youth should be competitive globally. Much opportunity has been missed by not using an international language like French or English in schools and business.

We need to stop amharic as a working language and stop the primitive cultural infleunce of Amhara on non-Amhara. the amhara are more Bantu or Zulu, which means using amharic affects those non-Amhara tribes .

Well, you Pride yourself as Tigrian about Atse Yohaness -though what he did for Ethiopia outweigh what he did against Ethiopia, he was a sellout when it comes to his conspiratorial backstabbing of Atse Twedros. For him to do the treason his request was a couple of useless cannons and a few hundred rifles. Then he went on foot with the British army to Atse Twedro's door leading them. HaileSelase gave you the choice to learn English --if you want to excel on that you had all opportunity to do so. If you think speaking English is mana to all your dreams, I can name 10 anglophone African countries that are in many ways in worst conditions than Ethiopia. China became the second superpower by learning Mandarin.
Regarding Amharic, people from different Nationalities speak the langue because they like it. So as long as it is not forced upon them if they chose to learn it -- except being green with envy there is nothing you can do about it. But simple advice, if you don't like the langue-- don't speak it or listen to Amharic Music, start by acting. Don't fill your CD with Amharic Music and talk with everyone that comes your way in Amharic . Don't be a hypocrite advise others not to use it.
