Poll: Would you support PM Abiy if he became a benevolent dictator?

Post by Dejach Aklilu » 28 Nov 2020, 17:29

After the demise of TPLF, the seizure of mekele and the imminent halt of the insurgency in Wollega, PM Abiy will have built a colossal following, which will prove almost impossible for NAMA or EZEMA to overcome by the time the next election is held. Furthermore, after having seen the chaotic purgatory transition period into "democracy" of the past three years, a lot of Ethiopians are content with the fact that their country maybe better served with a strong state under an authoritarian rule. So the question of the day is, who is the best candidate to become that authoritarian? Dr Birhanu has a respectable infrastructure in the capital, NAMA has considerable presence in urban Amhara. But neither NAMA or EZEMA have any meaningful cut-through outside of their bubble. When it comes to PM Abiy though, he has his base of Jimma on lock with considerable clout he will have garnered within his party and wider Oromia with the destruction of TPLF and demise of its Wollega arm - OLF-Shanne. On top of that, he can count on the loyal, almost slavish ANDM/ADP to bank on, which kinda makes PM Abiy the only obvious candidate to define the next chapter in Ethiopia's history as a benovelent dictator in the mold of Mustafa Kemal of Turkey.

Does he have your support ?
