One of TPLF's 11th hour plan was to take the fight to Eritrea by sending in all their remaining forces to fight Eritrea and deliberately internationalize the war. But Eritrean and Ethiopian commanders were aware of this this, so after securing Western Tigray (cutting TPLF from sudan), their next target was to deny TPLF forces any land border with Eritrea.
