The US has concluded that the TPLF is dead.

The US will not bail out TPLF. The only hope that TPLF has to survive is if the international community puts enough pressure on the Abiy administration so that it stops the fighting. However, that is not going to happen. There are two reasons for it. One, the Abiy administration is confident it will wrap up the offensive within weeks, so it will resist any outside pressure. With that the TPLF we know will cease to exist. Second, the international community, particularly US , was convinced as long as TPLF exists Ethiopia will not be peaceful. They want TPLF to leave the political scene permanently, and Abiy to succeed.
For the last two and half years the TPLF leaders were in unrelenting political suicide mission. And Ethiopians and the world noticed. And they believe that political suicide should come to its conclusion. It will.
