It’s Not Too Late to Stop the Ethiopian Civil War

Post by EPRDF » 19 Nov 2020, 17:03

ARGUMENT
It’s Not Too Late to Stop the Ethiopian Civil War From Becoming a Broader Ethnic Conflict
Western and regional powers are more divided than they were during the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s, but they can still exert influence to prevent the fragmentation of Ethiopia’s federal system.

Over the past two years, Ethiopia seemed like Africa’s greatest success story. After Abiy Ahmed became prime minister, the country opened up to the opposition, allowed exiled politicians to return, and ended the long-standing war with Eritrea. The rapid transformation earned Abiy a Nobel Peace Prize. However, this image has become tarnished in recent weeks by the escalating conflict with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), which had long disproportionately dominated the federal government and the erstwhile ruling coalition, the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front—and has a reputation for iron-fisted rule and fomenting interethnic violence as its principal source of power. The current military confrontation also threatens to undo the progress made in recent years.
Many commentators have noted that there is a long history of violent repression of ethnic groups and regions in Ethiopia. It might thus not be surprising to many that Abiy is also resorting to violence to confront the rebellious TPLF—a party that, due to its decades of domination of the federal government, has many enemies. However, it would be simple to reduce the brewing conflict to a simple desire to assert centralized power. As we argued last year in Foreign Policy, Yugoslavia holds some important lessons for Ethiopia.

Agame EPRDF,

There's no "civil war" but a War on Terror in Ethiopia.

It could be possible, but it is going to be built on the graveyard of PIA.
The reason is he bet on this war's conclusion the fate of his regime. If TPLF wins or some from of agreement is made, Abiy will leave PIA and Eritreans high and dry, to bury our dead.
So for PIA's sake, the war should not end or it should end with the demise of TPLF.
On that understanding, EPLF goons are working day and night manufacturing news and consent.

But the odds are against PIA and regardless of the outcome of this war, one sure thing happens, his regime will go!

EPRDF
lair lair pants on fire! TPLF is insignificant there is no need to exaggerate. Just one Amhara province, Gondar or Wollo could have consumed if any them got a go ahead. Pease stop sh!ting here. Immaterial TPLF giving too much importance for itself.

If someone is claiming about "image has become tarnished in recent weeks" because someone is doing the job that he should do as a leader, then there is something wrong with this world, I am afraid.

The mission of the operation is enforcing the rule of law of the country, where some took on themselves to commit treason against the country and opted to attack the pillar of the national security of the country itself, which is its national army base.

If a single soldier of the country is killed, let alone aggressing the whole command with the bulk of the military hardware of the country, then what is it than a treason? If it is a treason, then where else on this world did someone negotiate with the perpetrators of such a crime before, to avoid that their image will not be tarnished ?

Aye agames what civil war?
Can you be honest and tell us that the Ethiopian civilians are massacaring each other?
Civil war doesn't envolve military to military confrontation.
This war is about holding criminal responsible.
As far as PIA, I predicted that he will retire, living comfortable in our cities and beaches.
He is not in the helm because he wants to hung on power.
He is there to see his enemies get buried once for all.
PIA is just like me. Hs is a type that he can't sleep until he makes his backstabbers pay 100 fold.
So, again I say, that he will be an advisor to our next young generation from his reclining chairs.
I mean, what does he has left.
He protected Eritrea untill his old age. He is possessive like a mother who protects its babies.
Now that he killed all the flies which were bothering a mother's babies, what else is there to do for him?
So, I say not that we don't want him to lead us, but politely we will beg him to enjoy his hard work relaxing in our beaches and cities.

ጋዕጋዕ ዑጉም፡ let me tell you this fact. If anything, you, ሓሳድ ዓጋመ፡ you ought to consider your stinking self lucky that PIA is alive and kicking. For if it was anybody else at the helm of power, you wouldn't have a chance of being on this good Earth and utter your usual mambo jumbo.
