I do agree with you. Addis Abeba is the center of everything. It is and will be a regional powerhouse. But its also for the same reason the yebaleGize tribalists are trying everything they can to invade and rob the city. I think the idea to a kilil must be circulated the fastest possible into the residents ....so that it would be the people who would defend this rather than the parties.

Who gave addis to Oromos ? The constitution doesnt say so. Addis is already self administered eko. Minew gira tegabash? Plus by any criteria you may come up, Addis has all the values to qualify for a killil. Gebito?

You can agree with the oromophobe fuga until the cows come back from grazing at night but you need to keep-in mind a couple of factors.

1) whether Finfinne is 'declared" as a kilil by the pro-nefxenya fuga from Jimma, who, incidentally, is more interested to "buy the votes" of the residents of the city than having any other concern for them; the land on which the city sits REMAINS OROMOS'! - just like Bahir-dar remains the property of the Amhara (I think that land on which Bahirdar sits actually belongs to the weito tribe) & Indibir [Guraghe town] belongs to Gurage people [at least until Oromos grab it in their SECOND EXPANSION ]

2) you need to see the kililhood of Addis not just on its own but in the context of all other regions that made Addis the current powerhouse & centre of everything Ethiopia also pressing to become kilils too. If & when kilils create their own major city-hubs & start getting essential goods & services from their own major centres/cities such as Bahirdar, Adama, Jimma, Naqamte, Meqelle, Hawassa, Arba-Minch, Asosa, Jijiga, Gambella, etc; then there WILL be less .. and less need for the populations of those kilils to go to Addis for services or to trade with Addis Ababa.

That means that Addis WILL die a slow death & could even end-up becoming a GHOST TOWN! At the very least, it [Addis] WILL have a stiff competition from other urban centres serving their own or adjacent kilils. Imagine Sidamas or Oromos by-passing Addis to sell/export their coffee crop! [at the moment ALL the coffee produced in southern & eastern Ethiopia HAS to go/processed through Addis - which benefits the people of Addis in jobs etc, at the expense of coffee-producing regions.

There are lots of cities in history which ended-up as or near ghost towns as they were eclipsed by other towns/cities. You want me to mention a few? .. Detroit, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, etc in the USA; Gondar in Abyssinia/Aethiopia, Venice (Italy), Carthage [North Africa], etc

before opening your filthy mouth you should disprove the charges are unfounded and the content thereof is false.

According to some detainees, including a top member of OLF, who was released recentely after detention for over a 2 or so months, Ethiopian courts are showing unseen level of independence from the executive branch of Government.

Addis Ababa can remain a well developed metropolitan city which should be open and modern in its way of life and other social and economic undertakings.

There is no need to degrade Addis Ababa to upgrade the other cities in the country, all can grow equally and remain open to the external world, else there is no meaning for a city of enclaves.

The country has currently only one center for all of its lives and activities, be it politics, culture, economics, trade, you call it.

But it is possible to have more centers in the country, like in many other countries in the world.

Washington is the political center of USA, New Yourk is its commercial hub, Los Angeles is center of Arts, Texas is its center of old tradition, etc.

Berlin is Germany's center of politics and diplomatic core, Frankfurt am Main is its center of Commerce, Hamburg is its center of trade, maritime life-line, Munich is the center of technology and industry.

So, why is it in Ethiopia difficult to have a multi-center and reduce the burden on the single center the country has got today?
