WhyThe 7TH king Wanna Be Abiy Avoids Calling Addis Ababa By Its Rightful Name

Post by Bashu » 18 Aug 2020, 08:52

Sheger is Oromigna word. Most gullible Ethiopians think it is Amharic and go along with it. Abiy and his henchman takele basically changed Addis Ababa's name to
Sheger. It is the same crap as Finfine. All the projects that is going on In Addis Ababa named "Sheger"

Now we got ridoff one OLF goon tackle uma from Addis ababa and we are about to get another one (worse), abebech adage as a mayor.

That means addis ababa has been a defacto Oromo's capital for the past 25 years and has been lead by oromo mayors ever since.

This is killing Ethiopawinet and leading to a essential Amharanet in order to cope with the tribalist domination of Oromo and Tigray over Amara people this shows federalism is purely anti Amhara no Amhara is allowed in Ethiopian politics even when they r a majority in Addis they have no voice a secret domination over Amaras happened when they (Oromo-Tegaru) became tribalist as we sticked to Ethiopia (whole country) they organized as tribes and took power and representation organized themselves and looted our culture history land

The only time Addis Ababa was blessed by a good mayor it was When Arkebe Equbay was In Mazegaja. Obbo Takele was a good mayor too but I don’t know what is in Obbo Abiy’s mind to remove the good guy. He jailed the Arsi boy Jawarr and brought the Arsi lady, Adanech to mayorship. Perhaps he trying to show Oromos that he ain’t hard on them, I guess.

Wendime Bashu,

Your Addis is located in the heart of Oromia. The city is surrounded by Oromos and Addis is piece of their land thus they can name their cities and towns whatever name that pleases them. We are sick and tired of fighting over everything nonsense.Having Oromo names are better than to have Greek and other vodoo names like cherqos, QirQos, Jakros...wezete

EPRDF,
your Neanderthal thinking process is so archaic to argue with. Addis Ababa is Ethiopian capital and the people who came from all corners of Ethiopia lived, invested to make what Addis Ababa is today are called Ethiopians. Oromo Ethiopians are Ethiopians so they don't own Addis Ababa per se they share it. Because Addis Ababa a border with shawa or Oromia doesn't make it the property of the Oromo administrative region. By what right you come and swallow the whole 7000000 Addis Ababa without their consent. The Addis Ababa people have made it crystal clear that they are not a property of any Ethiopan region , they are the capital of all Ethiopans . Get used to it nothing in this good earth that is going to change that.

Wendime TGAA,

Yes, that is very true I agree with you that Addis is the capital of Ethiopia and the city belongs to all of us.

But what is wrong with the name Sheger, Finfine or with any other Oromo names reflected on the city.
It can still be our city and capital with its Oromo name and its Identity. Why that is so complex?

Sandiago, Sanjose, Sanantonio are American cities with latino name but they are still American cities.
La Cienega, La Tijera, La brea are streets named after Spanic words in the city of Angeles of America's one of the greatest city of Los Angeles. The latino names more beautified the city and did no make harm on its being American city. So why having a headache for Oromo words sitting on the cities and towns inhabited by Oromos?

what’s in a name? that which we call a rose
by any other name would smell as sweet.

If we call it Addis Ababa nor Finfine nor sheger all is fine if it is done with no malice. We all know what we are talking bout. However, its historical name for more than a century is Addis Ababa officially it should remain so. The new flower has no political connotation it doesn't offend anyone . The queen that named the city Taiytu has found a nice name , timeless name .
