Ilm Orma literally means the children of Orma, the two brothers,Borana and Barentuma, who are the 2 fathers of Oromo people. Orma was well documented at least since 1893 to be the first ancestor of all Oromos, as he is the father of Borana and Barentuma, the two brothers known to be the fathers of all Oromo people.
Beautiful Borana song.

Adefam qomiche lakeshore , you said Oromo does not exist, but trust me it is the amharu tribe that does not exist in Ethiopia, weyane made a big mistake for creating amharu kilil on Agew and Kimant lands, Amara tribe does not exist in Ethiopia, but Oromo is a very ancient nation that was part of Axumite Empire like Agews and others were.

He hates OLF just like the [deleted] meshrefret who paid him to say this anti Oromo remarks does hate olf . Ejolies in America will decapitate this budagoji ugly monkey who will be nothing other than a dishwasher in America. Also his gonderam wife is related to the gonderam wife of Meshrefet.

Abel;

Thanks.

1) - The young Borana singer is native of 'Marasabit County [province]', northern Kenya. She is singing 'nu tokkoo' [we oromos are one!], whiling admiring her mist-enveloped town of Marsabit [100kms south of Moyale/Ethio border] because the town sits on a high volcanic mountain of the same name.

[ Here is another popular cover song [Somali] by Sakina called "Qubb Ebaatif ka Abarsaa" ..

2) - there is also a separate clan of the Oromo (Kenya) called 'Orma' that resides in the most southerly Kenyan county/province named 'Tana River', located just north of the port city of Mombasa. The 'Orma' are the off-shoot of the Borana-Oromo & they separated from the Borana about 600 years ago.

The mostly cattle+camels+goats-herding 'Orma' live along Kenyan's largest river called 'Tana River' all the way to the Indian Ocean shorelines where the river empties into the Indian Ocean. Hence, the 'Orma' are the only Oromo community whose homeland touches the sea/Ocean.

Here is a BBC (Afaan Oromo+Amharic) doco on the Orma made about two years ago. See also an introductory doco on the Orma made by an Oromo journalist who was a refugee in Nairobi. In it, you can see Orma villagers performing their traditional song that shows the cultural & even physical influences they got from the nearby Bantu communities over the centuries. Today, many of the Orma are bi-lingual [Oromo+Swahili OR Oromo+Somali].

The Orma are the most southerly of the 11 or so major clans of the Oromo, while the Kemise-Oromo+Rayya [Ethiopia] are the most northerly clan.

In a sense, the qomiches & their fuga lap-dogs [Hi Horus 8) ] are the only tribes in Ethiopia who are stranded in a hell-hole of a country called Ethiopia while the Somalis, Afars, Tegarus, Bejas/Ben-Amirs, Shanqilas, etc, are all trans-national communities that have roots in other neighbouring countries as well as in the hell-hole empire of permanent doom & gloom known as Aethiopia. 8)

Nagaatti.

Thanks Yaballo,
She is beautiful lady, I like her music, and her home town mesmerized me.
I thought she was from Southeastern Oromia, but even if she is kenyan Oromo , her music proves she is a descendant of Borana.

The fact Ormas in Kenya trace their Origin from the grandfather of Oromos( Orma) and not from his children( Borana and Barentuma) is very interesting historically, it proves Oromos have very clear and straight, well-documented origin. Oftentimes Gudelamharu tell us the name oromo is new, but the existence of the Orma people clearly shows Oromo to be very ancient name .

Abel,

Yes, she is native of Marasabit County & town. The local name for Marsabit is "Saaku" [you can hear her say "Saakuu teena" [our Saaku] in her song.

Maybe you thought that she might be from south-eastern Oromia [Hararghe] because of the Hararghe-sounding place name shown in the clip called "Badessa" or "Badeessaa". Yes, "Badeessa" is a relatively common place name in Afaan Oromoo & the same is found both in Kenyan Oromo districts [Marsabit, Isiolo, Tana River] & in Ethiopia [Hararghe, Arsi, Bale, Borana, etc].

The name "Badeessa" is derived from an Afaan Oromoo word for a forest [Badaa]. Hence, "Badeessaa" means, "the forested one". Nagaatti.

Here is another popular song by Sakina [another Somali cover-song]. Somali songs are popular among Oromo communities in Bale, Haraghe, Borana, Kenya, etc.

song: sakina: "Gurbaa Booranaa" ..

song: Sakina's "camel song" .. traditional Borana/Gabra-Oromo song ...

Yaballo, you read my mind correctly, I appreciate your correction, and the explanation thereof.
Interestingly there is a vast forested territory between Eastern Tigray and Afar and its name is Dessaa, which is close to baDessaa/Ba-dessaa.
There is also a place called Badaa in ar'teran Afar region, very close to Tigray, and was actually contested in the border conflict (TPLF had occupied it for more than 2 years but the midget Meles forced our Army to withdraw after he signed the Algiers agreement)
Thanks, and Nagaatti !
