When Raesi Alula was the governor of north Tigray he found out very unpleasant to all men of Tigray, that is Men used to carry jars and fetch water from the nearby river for drink at home and the women of Hamassien used to be the boss of the house not the man. One day the man went to the river carrying jar to fetch water and on his way coming home with full of water carrying on his head his foot hit a stationed stone and felt down and the jar was broken and went home without water and jar. The wife boss of the house was angry and beat him and told him to leave his home and left while crying. He went straight to the palace of Raesi Alula and at the gate he cried loudly in order to be heard and Raesi Alula saw from his window a man was crying and yelling for help. Raesi Alula sent one of the bodyguard to ask him what happened and what went wrong, the man told the whole story and he does not have a place to live now. The bodyguard told the story of Hamassien men and Raesi Alula was shocked to learn that and he told him to go to his home and tell his wife to let him in and stay at his home, tell her this order was from Raesi Alula. As you know all, Raesi Alula word is just one and he used to be respected like God and take his order very seriously and the woman accepted him. In the next days Raesi Alula introduced a new law stating no men of Hamassien carry jar on his head and fetch water, if anyone found the punishment would be very severe punishment and the Hamassien society accepted the new law and men of Hamassien were freed.
