To prove the real ገገማ let us check the facts on the ground first.

To begin with you are already mixing two different issues. Condemning the crime committed during the war and taking measures to avoid such crime be repeated in the future is onething and collectively condemning the soldiers who were made to fight in the devastating war as culpable crime is completely a different matter.

Having said that the person sharing his view with you here had an opportunity to sleep in a house built by a grant the german government offered to the families of those who were fallen in the war after wards.

So, do yout think that such grants were made to compensate criminals? Or, are you the opinion that such grants were not made to support the families of the fallen soldiers of the WWII?

Why you mix two different things, anyhow ?

A soldier fighing in a war has the duty to take over national interest and defend it, a soldier is not a policy maker.He is there to implement the policy which has already been deliberated on. It is a matter of defending a national interest, if there is a flaw in crafting the policy, then the culprit is someone else not the soldier who was fighting in the field or war fronts. These were, if there were ones, then these are those sitting in high offices of government facilities.

Ethiopian soldiers were told to fight to defend the national interest of the country after the decision to fight was made by somebody else. If he didn't fight for what ever reason, then he would have been considered a traitor and made to be hold accountable for such high crime.

The soldiers were not recruited to fight for "Derg" or Mengistu Hailemariam, rather to fight for Ethiopia and as such they were custodian of the national interest of the country and they paid price for that but later on they were disposed on the streets. A crime of highest magnitude was committed on the sons and dauthers of the country who contributed their precious lives.

And these will be one of the dark chapters of Ethiopian history for generations to come.
