In my view at least EAL has no other options than risking the lives of its own crew-members and that of the wider public of the country since it has to tend to the souls of over 100 Millions.
Ethiopian Economy is already on the brink of crashing, we either fight to stay afloat or give in and get drowned deep and perish, which will probably cost more lives than the on going pandemic itself.

"For many Africans, Ethiopian Airlines has been a symbol of what is possible on this continent if there is a plan and less corruption; within a very short time, the airline became the fourth largest in the world in terms of the number of international destinations served. Now it is facing ruin and with it Ethiopia's economy, which is dependent on the airline's foreign currency as a source" as it was said here:viewtopic.php?f=2&t=213654&p=1039468#p1039468
