The Ethiopian Orthodox Church has made itself ridiculous in North america by pouring by pouring "holy"' water from a helicopter in a town in USA. They are also blessing Minnesota with fumes from gum arabicum or itan in Tigrigna or Amharic.

The Ethiopian Orthodox Church should learn from the developments in human societies. Such practices are out of date and should be stopped as they have no effect. The Church should learn from the protestant and catholic churches. No holy water in the churches as a matter of routine. No fumes of itan or gum arabicum in yhe streets. It should be done only in the church compounds.

There are many good things about the Ethiopian Orthodox church. However archaic practices such holy water or itan, or feast for the dead for them to be in heaven etc are out of time and should be changed or thrown.

The only time you go to sleep comfy is when the whites do it. It is a spiritual exercise when one prays or when one blesses water or bread. So What Orthodox church spray holly water they are not telling you are cured of the disease, what they are doing is praying for God's interference to help us win over this tragic pandemic. It is not only the Orthodox church that prays for a city of a nation, but all also do it. However, trifling whatever we have has become fashionable for many decades.

That does not mean they are right even if the whole world does use holy water, which by the way does not exict. Water cannot be holy because a certain Church states it. We should be adapting to new situations. The Orthodox church is simply too primitive to lead Ethiopians in 21 century. It should change or the people will look to join other churches like Pente Cosatal or protestant groups.

You have not heard what is going on in Pente Coastal or Protestant Groups. There is no religious institution that is immune from its fringe stupid groups. The orthodox church is no better or worst than any other in that respect. But you shouldn't carry over your biases to make a judgment about the Orthodox Church. The orthodox church is going to have its own version of the 21 century, maybe not your version of what should look like. You are free to go to the church that suits you well, but I assure you in no way it is going to be better than the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. If anyone open up any church, including your favorite, for close scrutiny you will find as much or maybe more problems in it.
