25 Mar 2020 – (EP) When all the national leaders in the world are addressing their citizens in a daily basis, it is no surprise that the odd Eritrean President-For-Life Isaias Afwerki paid no personal attention to the unprecedented global problem called Coronavirus.

Participating in the regional discussion to play a part role to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Horn of Africa seems to be like unnecessary and a waste of time to the peculiar leader.

In phone conversations today, Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed agreed to work in a “coordinated manner” with Kenya President, Somalia President, Djibouti President, Sudan PM and South Sudan President to respond to emerging challenges.

“Our regional integration goals (Isaias’s long-held dream) need not be hampered if we align and lead with collective interests,” said Abiy without the distant Eritrean president input.

In this connection, commercial passenger flights to and from Eritrea will not be allowed from midnight today, (25 March 2020). The ban will remain effective for two weeks until further review.
