Uganda to build dam on Nile River

Post by Za-Ilmaknun » 09 Mar 2020, 14:57

Now is the chance for all countries in the Nile basin to realize their dream of building dams or utilizing their water as they see it fit. The Egyptians think that they can force Ethiopia in to affirming their colonial era treaty on Nile Waters. Ethiopia is only playing nice until things are cooled down at the home front. We should never ask anybody's blessings to use our own God given resources.

"The Ayago power plant will have a capacity of 840 megawatts (MW) and, when successfully developed, would be Uganda's largest power plant.

The Karuma hydroelectric dam, upstream of Ayago and due to be completed early this year by China's Synohydro Corporation, is currently Uganda's largest power project. Uganda is one of six countries that signed a 2010 Cooperative Framework Agreement (CFA) that allows upstream Nile basin countries to develop projects along the river without Egypt's consent as it was in a previous colonial-era agreement on the use of Nile waters.

Building dams on the Nile has proven controversial in recent years with Egypt, which almost entirely depends on the water from the river, seeing them as a national security threat".

The Egyptian puppies here are wiggling their tails hopping that Ethiopia could further gets weakens by the belligerence of their master. Ya all need to think twice before spewing your filth here. Some single lane thinkers assume that if any conflict is coming to the region, they could benefit from it. The problem will be far reaching and very destabilizing for all. Standing with the truth and the just is the only way that this thing could be resolved.

For those who are supporting Egypt for reasons of hating Zionists need to evaluate there emotion and see the realities of who is trying to do what. Egypt is supporting the US initiative of undivided Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in exchange for leveraging US's influence to control our waters.

"the reason for the involvement of the US is the Israeli and Palestine peace initiative that President Trump is spearheading. For this to succeed, the president needs the support of Egypt- the traditionally considered the leader of the Arab world. And because of the Egyptians influence, many of the Arab countries did not oppose the initiative by Trump which he says would bring lasting peace in the Middle East."

Yeah, the President even went as far as saying that he "prevented" a major war from happening between two countries over water dispute.. but the Prize went to one of the leaders of the country. However, my point was to rejecting the characterization of some of our friends here that asserts as if it is Ethiopia's fault to stand firm to protect its interests.
