Re: $26 a month: Ethiopians are being paid to make your Calvin Kleins

Post by Digital Weyane » 15 Feb 2020, 15:35

Our TPLF visionary leaders made the right business decision when they invited Calvin Klein to Ethiopia to set up a factory, because it shows they care a lot about world economy. Our TPLF ideology says, if you help rich white people get more richer, they will say nice things about you on the media. Our ideology was proven right for 27 golden years.

The average price for a Calvin Klein shirt is $49.99 US dollars.

If an Ethiopian worker makes 25 shirts a day and earns 85 cents per day in salary (or 3 cents per the shirt that is sold for $49,99), Calvin Klein's profit is $1,250 a day from one Ethiopian worker. Now multiply that by the thousands of Ethiopians employed at Calvin Klein's factory.

That seems like a lot of money for Calvin Klein's owners and executives, but for us Weyane Human Rights activists we feel that helping the very wealthy white people maintain their luxurious life style is to respect their Human Rights.

Viva TPLF, the Human Rights champion of the world!

The average income in my home town of Adwa is $500 US dollars a month, because we are smarter than the people in Tigray and in Ethiopia. That makes me feel very proud to be from Adwa. 8) 8) 8)

This is not true. It might be a bit higher than in Addis Ababa or Hawassa.
US$ 26.00 a month is too low. This should be raised to around US$50.00, which is still low but enough to cover the bills. The workers should be paid overtime and there should be worker's rights protected.

The minimum wage should be regulated by law ( 10-15 Birr/hour) and workers should not be harassed or insulted. The companies should be able to arrange such conditions conducive to good productivity and safeguarding the health of the workers who have responsibilities for their families and children. Otherwise we could sue the owners of these companies who ever they are and this could be expensive.

Fed_Up,

Others will kill to get a "Calvin Klein" factory. Let alone that, one should be thankful to that Bangladesh Co. who just invested in Tigray Ethiopia. This is not "Woyane's" weakness!

The bottom line is cheap labor can be expensive. How many shirts can one produce VS a Chinese? If it is 1/10, how much salary do you pay to the cheap labor? 1/10 of a Chinese period; if not, the business is losing money.

So, until your skill level is proportional to your competitor, you're worth very little & work for less for a long time to come to make up. Otherwise, stay primitive others will take the FDI.

Go ahead and stay pasturalist or follow the camel! Die like flies taking boats to Europe! Do whatever you're good at; kill each other like animals! You're good at that! Who stopped you from doing what ever you desire? Creating mayhem in the region is your profession! Greedy Moron Secessionists!

Typical agameee disastrous excuse. Dude do you even listen yourself? Smh
Now let me make my point... do you know why this corporate came to cheap human labor Ethiopia? They came because they don’t wanna pay more than 26$ to the previous cheap laborers. They will go when the poor modern slaves demand more pay.

What will they lose? Nothing because they already made all the money over the shoulders of the communist anthem mass singers aka modern cheap slaves poor Ethiopians. Therefore, according to your take it is okay with you this poor souls can get paid $26 dollars/ month for long ... loooooong time to come. Let me ask you this, Is your big belly and kids bellies can wait long ..loooong time to crump some burgers? What is the point of having all this big fertile lands to waste if not support the general public? Why don’t just buy few tractors and let the people produce food instead? Ayeeeee woyanus... you people can’t even think beyond your nose.

The bottom line is woyanus economy were a disastrous and will take long ..loooooonge time to fix.

Dawit,

i dont think feedup and SomaliEritreanman care about logic .. they just be ignorant otherwise what competitive advantage do Ethiopia have is we ask the same salary as the Bangladesh workers ask.. why would be the advantage to come to Ethiopia then .. when u can get highly skilled workers with zero attitude problem and no absenteeism...

it remind me Ethiopian maid asking the same salary to their counter part Philippines ... the Philippines speak English they even know how stove work .. the Ethiopian maid never seen washing machine let alone those poor maid even the richest Ethiopian house doesn't have washing machine they dont speak Arabic they dont know how to cook Arabic food now the owner must train them if they r lucky... otherwise why would u demand more money when u have no skill to match it...

Feedyou, counter by saying when the poor worker demand more then 26 dollar the rich capitalist will find a new home..

this is very good point and valued argument but when will that going to happened the next 20 years the rich capitalist might be tolerant to pay them up to 60 dollar two dollar per day.. then if that pay doesnt match by reduce rent u will end up to zero saving .. for example if the workers pay rent 300birr as soon as the company pay them double the rent will double so what is the point only increasing the salary .. how much you save is much important then how much u earn ...

to this end i suggest the government with partnership with the capitalist must build workers accommodation and ask the company to provided food as part of the deam coming to Ethiopia ..

another thing what would be the faith of this young girl if they r not paid 26 dollar and stay at home would be S@X worker in Addis Ababa or going to Saudi Arabia what would be their choice .. this for sure ato feedup and somaliEritreanman cant tell us.. they want us to shut store just because they say so .. no body force those young Ethiopian to work in industrial zone .. they r free to quite... salary have it own life it will rise based on market price... when those young people once they develop skill they can start their own sewing industry sky is a limit ...
