November 7, 2018 - Eritrean President Isaias Afewerki is scheduled to visit Amhara Regional State of Ethiopia starting on Friday. This is the third time the Eritrean President is visiting Ethiopia in as many months since the historic normalization of relations brought about by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
Earlier, he visited Addis Ababa twice. During the last visit, he also toured development projects in Ethiopia, including the indurial park in the southern city of Hawassa.
The Eritrean President was invited by officials of the Amhara regional state following visit to Asmara by their delegation a couple of months ago.
According to Tesfaye Moges, Head of Gondar City Communication Affairs, the Eritrean president is expected to visit historic sites and development projects in the region.

During the interview, President Isaias praised the resilence of the Eritrean people, saying this all came due to the ‘steadfastness and resilience’ of his people
“The peace process transcends Ethiopia’s full acceptance of EEBC border ruling,’‘ Afwerki said. "The peace process goes beyond Ethiopia's full acceptance of EEBC ruling and represents new, fourth epoch where external deceptions of controlling the region have been vanquished through resilience of the Eritrean people, political dynamics in Ethiopia and global developments," he added.
Isaias Afewerki said Eritrea will consolidate the normalisation of relations with Ethiopia, Somalia and Djibouti for peace anddevelopment.
‘‘The new reality will pave way for solid cooperation within the Horn of Africa, the Nile Basin, and the Arabian Gulf, regions that are endowed with substantial resources, huge populations and considerable human capital,’‘ said Isaias Afewerki.
