my answer why there is no theft in Asmara the simplest reason are one the thief is over 77 years... if u open your home how in hell he is carrying the TV he is so old he cant left the Tv or anything else... the second reason is there is no valuable in someone home that you can take .. for example u have Tv that Italy left u.. everyone have Tv why would they buy new one they got tv as old as themselves

the 3rd reason is Eritrea have no youth left so no body buy bikes who is going to ride it ... in Assmara u r living in 1935 it is not 2020

in Ethiopia case i also hate pickpockets .... but that is pure poverty .... if u give the youth job to go to income to earn we would solve the pickpockets problem in fact it is major cause of tourist complain ... once i remember long distance runner king haile hotel . another world class athlete said he was looted by thief ... king haile should have paid this world class athlete and save the day .............. what is the problem even if this Somalia runner stay for free and eat for free that is the best adventurism one can get but king haile refused to pay.. and this Somalian runner told everyone that he was taken for ride in Ethiopia ... my point is theft affect our tourism industry.... those who engaged in taking other people property must be told they r lucky to find a job and they should be told their job is on line if they committed theft .. not only told but they should be fired and the name should be black listed so that they cant get any other job that is the only way u can stop this theft culture .... as of now you commit theft in one hotel and u go to next hotel and you get hired so there is no incentive not to commit theft .... once again those buda Amhara also think u only become rich by committing theft .................... i am telling u all five star hotel must have video and each workers must know about it .. if any 3 customer complain that he is the victim of theft without any evidence the worker that took the job should be fired no question should be asked .. each time the customer should be refunded what he lost then the lady that work the room must be told what happened then 3 time she is out of the door .. let see stealing 100 dollar worth getting fired..

another incentive for workers not to steal is job benefit for example medical insurance life insurance, housing and unemployment issuance will do much to convince them not to do theft .... otherwise they see the theft as supplementary to their salary .. they r looked as food if they dont committed theft and get rich fast...
