Re: Definition of Ascari

It is the same thing as the ethiopian soldiers who are hired through their govt getting paid by the whites to do the whites agendas in other African countries.
Askari is an Arab word for soldier.
It is like mercenaries.
Why is it a sin when it comes to Eritrea?
Yes the Eritrean Askaris luckily were getting paid.
Had they refuse the fascist Italy would have shot them dead too.
I mean, they could have done it with out pay scared for their lives.
They were victims.
Slaves are the filthy agames who were flooding Eritrea in the 100ds of thousands of them, with no gun pointed at their ugly qomal heads (willingly) to slave in Eritrea's households and streets.
So what is your point?

Monkey Cigar,it is exaggerated,it is after the 1960s that this was happening.People were victims of Haileslassie's rule.Italians on the one side and Minilik on the other.Feudalism destroyed us.Destroyed is a bad word but if we want to survive we need a reformation like what was in England in the beginning of 1700.In Australia,it is called Wesley's Mission.I am sorry for the insult but this is my dream

Hawey Cigar,

Ascari is an Arabic term meaning Soldier(Wetader) full stop. The meaning got nothing to do with mercenary or with someone who is getting paid to carry out a military duty.

The Arabic word Ascari refers to soldiers proper and that is it.

But some Amharic speaker Ethiopians, who do not speak or understand Arabic, mixing this word with Amharic word Ashker(servant) because it sounds similar in pronunciation, and which is absolutely wrong.
