He has some accent but Dawit is good in his written Tigrigna's proficiency. He is one of the best music composers, lyricists, and singers in Ethiopia.

His Amharic songs are very, very popular in Ethiopia, specially among Amaras and AddisAbebans.

Tewedeshal is my favourite Amharic song. Dawit is born in Arsi but he moved to Addis when he was infant and thus his Oromifa knowledge is poor to one existent.
He had to live in Tigray for a few years in order to learn Tigrigna but he has yet to go back to Asela to l learn Oromifa so he can sig in it.He said this in one of his interviews in Tigray a few years ago.
