Post by Zmeselo » 26 Oct 2019, 07:47

President Isaias Afwerki met today, at Adi Halo, the joint UN-AU delegation led by Deputy Secretary General, Ms. Amina Mohammed. The delegation is on a two-day visit to Eritrea to highlight
the critical role of women's meaningful participation in peace, security & development.

President Isaias underlined, that the joint high-level visit was testimony to the deepening of ties of cooperation & engagement between Eritrea & the UN. The President elucidated, Eritrea's trajectory/experience in the national liberation struggle & subsequent phase of nation-building.

Eritrea's developmental progress; endeavours being undertaken to meet the SDGs; women's vital role in all these areas as well as effective measures that should be taken to rectify and reverse Africa's marginalisation were also discussed at length in the meeting.

The UN Deputy Secretary General applauded Eritrea's developmental achievements through mobilisation of internal resources & asserted UN readiness to support the Eritrea-Ethiopia Peace Agreement/conducive climate in the Horn, as the process transitions towards concrete cooperation.

________

The joint UN-AU delegation held series of meetings yesterday with Ministers of Justice, National Development, Information, Labour & Social Welfare; as well as President of the NUEW. Visited several projects; including Mislam Dam and the Nefasit-Decamere-Serha road, under construction.

Weekend reflections:
1) There are times for quiet observation & reflection, times even for deliberate deep silence. Hasty verbosity has never been in Eritrea's political tradition.
2) In our long struggle, we have seen all kinds of pathological & professional liars come and go.

There are countries that have done none, with more opportunities. But, Eritrea with its own resources is doing a lot on development. I am excited because I'm witnessing the real Eritrea, not the Eritrea on social media.

THIS DAY IN ERITREA'S HISTORY!
==============================

On Oct. 26, 1896, the Treaty of Addis Ababa was signed between Abyssinia (now Ethiopia) and Italy. Under this Treaty, Ethiopia recognized Italy’s sovereignty over the coastal strip of Eritrea and Italy recognized Ethiopia as an independent state.

Under the Treaty of Addis Ababa, Abyssinia and Italy agreed to fix the definitive frontiers between them within one year and observe the status quo ante, strictly prohibiting either of them from crossing the provisional frontier, Mereb, Beleza & Mouna Rivers.

In 1897, Italy and Abyssinia came to an arrangement of the frontier. Menilik proposed to settle the frontier of Eritrea from Tomat along the Abbara River, the Mereb River, south of Gura, Digsa, Halao and Mahio and further on at sixty kilometer distance from the Red Sea.

The origin of the “sixty kilometers from the coast” formula was a recommendation by Emperor Menelik in 1897 to Major Nerazzini, the Italian negotiator. During Eritrea-Ethiopia Border Commission Proceedings, Ethiopia admitted to this fact.

On Feb. 27 1889, Italy announced that it accepted Menilik’s offer. Italy accepted the frontier lines worked out in direct conversation b/n Major Nerazzini & Menelik by telegram, on Sept. 3 1887. The 1889 Treaty was revised on: July 10, 1900- May 15, 1902 & May 16, 1908.

During the negotiations between Abyssinia and Italy for a definitive frontier, Emperor Menelik at first sought a frontier considerably to the north of the Mareb-Belesa-Muna line but eventually agreed in the year 1900 to stick to that line (in exchange for a payment of 5,000,000 lire).

Prior to this Treaty, on Oct 20, 1887, Emperor Menelik had alreadt signed a treaty of friendship & alliance with Italy. He had promised neutrality, on condition that the Italians dropped all territorial aspirations & on Oct.1,1889, he reaffirmed the sovereignty of Italy over Eritrea.

The Westerners are exposing themselves through their media outlets, that they're not happy their pet (the Woyane) is no longer effective to implement their mission of destroying the aspiration of the Eritrean people’s quest for justice, freedom & prosperity using the the EPLF principle of self-reliance.

Eritrea’s independence was realized because of the self-reliance principle and Eritreans and their leadership know, that the only way to build an independent and prosperous Eritrea is to use this proven method. The West, doesn’t like Eritreans to think independently and succeed in their own way. They think, they will be a bad example for Africans. They don’t like Africans to think independently and work for themselves. The West is only interested to keep the status- quo, by perpetually creating African societies with beggar mentality; who worship the white man as their saviour. They want exploit and enslave Africans, by creating continuous instability and chaos. They are not interested in peace in the region & that's why they are working with the criminal Woyane gang; who are hiding in Mekele Tigray.

The Woyane, was a perfect tool for them. They are unhappy, that this criminal regime is gone for good. If anyone has any doubts about this fact, notice how the West never criticizes or utter any negativity against the heinous crimes committed by the Woyane on the Eritrean people in particular, and Ethiopian or Somali people in general. They protected these criminals for 27 years and are still trying protect and use them, even when they are om their death- bed. They are using democracy and human right slogans & as a cover, to attack the selfless Eritrean leader- ship.

Whether they like it or not, the reality is that the Eritrean people are blessed to have leaders, who are willing to give a lifetime of service for free. This is a unique phenomenon in this world, and it should have been admired and appreciated. They have always worked for the Eritrean people, with the best intentions. The west never cared, about the rights of the Eritrean people. They supported Ethiopia, when it violated the federal arrangement in 1961. From 1950 – 2018, all successive Ethiopian regimes committed heinous crimes against the people of Eritrea but no western country raised its voice, to condemn these crimes. Instead, they used all kinds of schemes tactics, to weaken the struggle of Eritreans for independence and justice.

At this time they are attacking Eritrea by claiming that there is no democracy and human right in Eritrea, as if they care about the people of Eritrea more than Eritreans. This claim is to mislead people, who don’t know the facts about Eritrea. They are lying to achieve their evil goals, using "democracy" and "human rights" slogans for cover. In fact they are the ones who are creating obstacles, when the Eritrean government and people are trying to build institutions that guarantee true democracy and justice in Eritrea.

The PFDJ is working tirelessly, to lay a strong foundation required for a true democratic and a just society; supported by a strong institutions. But, peace is essential to achieve this. The Eritrean people know very well, that the West is just shedding crocodile tears.

The SHIDA

These are Eritrea Freedom Fighters' footwear, most of them collected from the NAKFA trenches.

NAKFA, seats above 2000 m.s.l. & is bitter cold. Let alone with these wornout shoes, it's difficult to resist even with standard military boots. Our fighters, made it look it easy.

I was delighted to meet H.E. President Isaias Afwerki, on the outskirts of Asmara at his modest [office]. His speech on the Sudanese issue, was profound and constructive. I was amazed for the second time by his profound knowledge, of the immediate and future challenges of Sudan.

I sometimes wish that the UN administers my country Tigray, just as it did in Kosovo.
