In Summary

Turkey has been Somalia’s leading donor and has invested billions of dollars in infrastructural projects.
Eritrea restored relations with Somalia last year, after nearly 15 years of animosity.
If Turkey and Eritrea are to step in, it could be a win for Somali given that Amisom was supposed to train and equip 30,000 Somalia soldiers before exiting.

Somalia is negotiating with Turkey and Eritrea for deployment of their military commanders and supply of equipment for the war against Al-Shabaab when the African peacekeepers under Amisom, finally withdraw in 2021.

But the deployment can only be bilateral with the approval of the United Nations Security Council, which despite ordering the phased withdrawal of peacekeepers is aware that Somalia’s security forces lack the capacity to protect the whole country.

Turkey has been Somalia’s leading donor and has invested billions of dollars in infrastructural projects—roads, hospitals, the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu and schools—while Eritrea, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia have recently forged what is known as the Cushitic Alliance, to foster co-operation on economic and security issues among the Horn of Africa countries.

The Turkish ambassador to Kenya Ahmed Cemil Miroglo said he is not aware of such consultations and referred us to their embassy in Somalia and Eritrea.

Eritrea restored relations with Somalia last year, after nearly 15 years of animosity—with Mogadishu accusing Asmara of funnelling money to the Al-Shabaab.

If Turkey and Eritrea are to step in, it could be a win for Somali given that Amisom, with the help of donors, was supposed to train and equip 30,000 Somalia soldiers before exiting, but so far have only trained 10,000.

There has never been animosity b/n Eritrea and Somalia, let alone for 15 years.

How can it be, when Somalia was without a central govt. for all these years?

You're spot-on! "There has never been animosity b/n Eritrea and Somalia, let alone for 15 years."

How can it be, when Somalia was without a central govt. for all these years?
It's not because Somalia survived without a central government for so many years. Such a lack of central government didn't keep Ethiopia at bay! Instead, it took phenomenal advantages of this to do everything it could with the unscrupulous aim of fragmenting and annihilating Somalia!

Unlike Ethiopia and Ethiopians, Eritrea and Eritreans have never acted unjustly or unfairly toward Somalia or Somalis. Eritrea has never supplied Al-shabab (or Al-sheydaan, may I call them) with anything whatsoever, leave alone arms. It was Meles (may he rot in hell) who concocted such allegation and sold it to the US which needed to feed its misleading fabricated money-making 'war on terror'. No a single Somali believed such false allegations. No Somali of sound mind thinks or speaks ill of Eritrea or Eritreans. While even the most forgiving Somali cannot be persuaded to forgive Ethiopia for what it has done to Somalia till the death of Meles.

Tarik,

Iska warran!

To Somalis, including myself, there's nothing wrong for Somalia to need Eritrea, but there's everything wrong with needing Ethiopia at least until wounds have heeled and sound trust has been forged and tested.

SinLady,

Although what you've said is exactly a fact and not an opinion out of your corrupt mind, why do you have to accuse Kenyan press of getting obsessed with Somali affairs when you're doing the exact same in its most literal sense! You'r no different from "the pot calling the kettle black"!
