For 27 years, until the TPLF was kicked out of powr, the Agames paid little attention to ashenda, because it is just another cultural ritual, interesting perhaps, but signifying very little. But after their ouster, Agames have made ashenda as if it is the second coming of their golden age. It is an expression of the profound impotence of their situation. Today, every Tigrayan is in a state of deep depression. Their borders are closed, roads are sealed, and agames are waiting with fear and trepidation for whatever their neighbours are planning. Thus, little things like Ashenda have become magnified in the view of agames. And I love it! .
