First off, National Service was never indefinite as it is limited to 18 months by law. If it was prolonged, this did not stem from deliberate GOE policy choice. It was imposed by belligerent party which violated international law with impunity; with active/tacit external support.

Secondly, Eritrea's defense architecture will never be auctioned or outsourced to external bodies and entities; least of all to unconscionable external powers who supported, condoned or kept mum when the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity were flagrantly violated.

Appropriate reconfiguration of National Service and Eritrea's defense architecture thus fall within the sole purview and prerogative of the Government and people of Eritrea. Seemingly sanctimonious and/or unsolicited "advice" cannot, indeed, mask the ulterior motives of its purveyors.
