Ethiopian Airlines - where is your love for Ethiopians and Ethiopia!

Post by Democrat » 01 Aug 2019, 05:03

Ethiopian Airlines was founded by the government of Ethiopia. It is a state company with full autonomy as a private company. We are in dark where the profits of this airline has been going. It is a shame to see this airline has done nothing to expand direct flights from other countries to Ethiopia's regional statescapital cities (Gonder, Bahirdar, Mekelle, Aksum, Hawassa, Jijiga, Laibella, Diredawa to mention a few)

As the policy of the airline favours Addis Ababa, passengers from other Ethiopian regional states, have to transit through Addis Ababa. For many, Addis Ababa has no connection as their families live in the regional states. They would spend money and time in Addis to reach their destination in the regional states. This affects also foregn investors, who are not interested to travel to Addis Ababa but travel to towns or cities where their business is based.

The city of Mekella has no international flights. One cannot fly from Frankfurt to Mekelle or Aksum. the same is to Bahir DAr or Gonder or to Jijiga or Hawassa. Ethiopian should be forced to arrange International Flights to other major towns of the country. It is exapnding to China, India, South America and North America, which is fine as long as the people of Ethiopia in the regions get the same facillities as Indian, Brazilian or Chinese towns.

Ethiopians should force the management of Ethiopian Airlines to arrange international flights from major cities in Ethiopia. This brings a lot of money to Ethiopian cities in the regional states. The Air Transport policy of Ethiopia is discriminatory, where airports from the oppressed nationalies are given poor facilities and services. The people of Ethiopia should boycot Ethiopian Airlines flights to show solidarity with the regional towns or cities of Ethiopia. The other defect of Ethiopian Airlines management is they have not arranged inter-regional flights. There are no flights from Mekelle to Gonder or from Bahirdar to Hawassa. Every flight has to go through Addis Ababa. The other defect is that Ethiopian Airines seems to have a monopoly of domestic flights, where people pay a lot of money compared to other countries. A flight from Mekele to Addis Ababa return costs aroun £150.00, which is very expensive, for one hour flight. The airline should make domestic flights affordable for all Ethiopians.

Ethiopian airlines will be forced to change it's name to another as the name Ethiopia is abused by the airline. Ethiopian political leaders see the government as a place where they could enrich themselves at the cost of the Ethiopian people. The same could be said about Ethiopian airlines - they use it to benefit themselves and their few employees.
