In terms of qualification sophia Tesfa mariam is more capable and more qualified to be Eritrea's top diplomat at the UN. The fact is, i even propose her to be our ambassader to the US or UN instead of the incompetent Araia Desta. Hence sophia Tesfa mariam is in good company.

To the question why the dictator chose sophia Tesfa mariam to be Eritrean ambassader to the UN, it has nothing to do about her quality but about her loyalty, how far she can go to defend the dictator and his policy irrespective of her reputation. I am sure, if the village idiot ykaalo Gebre selasie, who is ranting against the people of Hamasien had the patience and waited in pfdj, the dictator could have appointed him to be Eritrean's ambassader to Sudan or Gulf countries. Furthermore, this cosmetic and meaningless Change will give pfdj naive and gullible cheerleaders, the ammunition they lack that Change is about to come.

Btw, it is rumored that the reason why ambassader Girma Asmerom was not given dignified burial covered by Eritv and attended by government officials was because he came in colusion course with the dictator and his policy. In Eritrea, what it matters is not If you serve the country and its People but If you serve and display unwavering loyalty to the dictator and his policy.
