I say it is about time they do a confederation setup ASAP? It is appropriate indeed!

Both Eritrea and Ethiopia will be free to organize their foreign policy, security, and economic planning as would happen for all sovereign states. The current council of states and national legislative assemblies will have their life extended (set up a Con-federation of 4 years) and functions of certain national commissions will be modified to support con-federal government. [Postpone Ethiopian election for 4 years]

Monetary union should be carefully studied and given a serious consideration. The management and sharing of common assets and regulating trade should be managed by the con-federation whose presidency rotates every 6 months between Eritrea and Ethiopia; citizens from both countries will be free to move freely and enjoy the full rights of the citizenship (education, medical treatment, right to buy and sell property) in the two states should device tariffs that will not put any side at disadvantage and maximize the accrued benefits for all. Fighting crime and managing security across the borders is carried by con-federal government in collaboration with the two sovereign states.

This con-federal arrangement will constantly be improved and renewed every 4 years (equivalent to life of legislative assemblies) and the renewal should be voluntary.

Your post is wishful thinking and I would have loved it too if Issayas was pushing Abiy every ethnic to be like Eritrea but Issayas is telling Abiy to be dictator use force like Issayas does to Eritreans and Ethiopia should be ruled by north Korea as like Eritrea.
