Hmmmmm,
In steps, proportional representation IS the IS! The IS is irreversible! What remains is that, the rest, specially the Amhara have to come to terms with it! The coming to terms is inevitable! It might take six month to a year, even more before the reality sinks in!
Hegemony is however a totally different thing! It implies leadership over others. The Oromo have struggled for proportional representation, with the caveat that failure to do so will disintegrate Ethiopia and lead to the indipendence of Oromia.
Leading others had been the least bit of concern to the Oromo. It hasent been in its political spectrum! Dont confuse the individual preparation which Abiy did for the cause, as one that represents the entire society! And here-in is the problem!
Both the Amhara and the Tigre had their own versions of hegemony. Both failed and will never come back to form for two reasons! One, both systems requier a docile and subservient Oromo which will not happen! Two, both systems are viewed as extremely self-serving albeit with some cohesive merits. Alas, the self-serving tendencies outweighed their benefits and are irreversibly oustered. Add to that, the Oromo who were never prepared for a hegemonic assertion are what the situation favors most! If Abiy serves as a guinea pig, I am not sure if the Oromo want to exhert its energy on what is a failed exercise of nation building! But then, what is the alternative?
Can the country, region survive witgout a hegemonic power? Or is it that the Oromo political spectrum needs to add and develope a regional leadership roll? The bit of thinking in this area is in the form of confederated states, with respecitive kilils owning their respective currencies. But is that even possible?

This is what I wrote seven years ago...
... because at the end if the day, when the "oromo wake up, the horn of afrika will shake". That's my altered version of napoleon's famous quote. "When china wakes up, the world will shake"
We all have to acknowledge that the oromo masses, once energized and empowered can become a hegemonic force that will decide the fate of the horn of Africa. It's not the tigraians "Abay Dingay Republic" or the ogadens "Ogadenia", it is the oromo that will shape our Ethiopia's and the regions destiny.

That was predicted in 2012, befo the rise of QUerro, Jawar, at a time when OLF had descended into irrelevancy and OPDO was the first lieutenant to TPLF. Fast forward seven years to 2019, OLF is being courted by TPLF and Oromos are the new hegemon in Ethiopia's politics and whoever is the hegemon in Ethiopia, becomes by default the horn's hegemon.
Is there anyone else on this forum or any other space that is a betta analyst than Prophet Aklilu ....NAAA
